Officially Dx with RA in March 2009, with symptoms beginning in January 09

My partner and I recently adopted Jack, a 1 year old rat terrier/spitz mix from the local animal shelter. I haven't had so much exercise since my symptoms began in January!

I work in the mental health field with troubled youth. While I find satisfaction in my work, I've never been the type of person to define myself by my career. I basically work so I can afford to live reasonably well and support the furbaby.

I've found that I'm more grounded, patient, and balanced since being diagnosed with RA. I guess I have new priorities and don't take anything for granted anymore. I know my relationships with my partner, my family, and my friends have all improved now that I don't have a canary over the smallest thing! While I wish I didn't have an autoimmune disease, I don't see it as the end of the road--it's just something I have to deal with. I mean, everyone has problems. All things considered, I have a really nice life.
