Pregnancy & Prednisone
Hugs, Mariah. I was diagnosed with RA during pregnancy. I had no symptoms at all pre-pregnancy, but by week 4 had morning stiffness, and each day got a bit worse (so much for "pregnancy makes it better"). Finally, in my third trimester I figured out that it wasn't "just pregnancy edema" and found my way to a Rheumatologist. We agreed on a course of low-dose prednisone to finish the pregnancy, and at delivery, the docs gave me a "stress dose" to ease labor. 8 weeks later, a healthy little girl is just learning to smile at me. I'm still on 10mg a day while we figure out long-term meds (since I couldn't start DMARDs or biologics while pregnant). I hate the morning pharmaceutical cocktail, but it's how I'm able to care for the kiddo. I'm with Moira. Though I haven't yet accepted it, I understand that for me, the alternative just isn't an option.

weather still crappy here in pa raining for the last two days. on mother's day spent the day with my hubby girls had to work. and we had along talk about my treatment.have decided to stop the methotraxte and the steriods. stop by the dr. office to leave message for her after my blood work this morning its not helping and some of the side effects are worse than the pain from the RA somedays. going to try olive leaf extract its all natural and certainly cant make me feel any worse than these meds

Choose to Fight! Don't Back Down Against Arthritis

Throughout my time as an arthritis advocate, health & wellness blogger, and a facilitator of many online support groups for young people with rheumatic, autoimmune, and chronic illnesses, I have encountered many people who simply want to give up. They write, asking for advice, and my advice to them is, "don't." DON'T give up! You can certainly live a full, fulfilling,...

Start Small! How to Stay Active with Arthritis

Let me just say this - I don't like to exercise. I am always baffled by people who genuinely love working out. While I always enjoyed sports growing up, until I had to quit - softball, basketball, and cheerleading - the idea of going to a gym or having a strict fitness regime has never appealed to me, and likely never will. Toss in an arthritis diagnosis at the age of 10 (one that has the c...
