(an attempt at humor )

U might have RA if...... You have begged and pleaded (out loud) with inanimate objects: "please, please turn, don't do this to me today, no, no I beg you don't roll under couch... aw man!".... You drove for 35 mins to nearest flu shot clinic on the first day the H1N1 shot was available and got both shots.... You were the youngest person in the line at the flu clinic..... You are on a Biologic treatment and feel the need to post a notice on the door of your retail store to keep the hoards of sick people from coming in and coughing thier germs all over you. They can come back when they're not sick (the sign says that too)... screw making the sale. How would they know they're putting my life at risk... I don't look sick! ... You've rolled up beach towels and put them at the foot of your bed, under the covers to keep the weight of the blankets from touching your toes. Ouch! Who knew toes could be so sensative.... You've actually considered liposuction on your upper arms merely to reduce the weight pulling down on your shoulders... man those shoulders are murder!.... You've 'sacrificed' a towel in your bathroom to the RA gods. Both shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers not working well enough to wipe... but the towel was long enough to get a grip on both ends.... and well you get the idea. LOL.... Your Rhuemy is so concerned about your well being that he calls you on a Saturday morning less than 12 hours after blood work being done to tell you that your liver tests are up and to quit taking your Arava. A specialist... working on a saturday! That's dedication... only a Rhuemy would do that!.... You can spell the generic full chemical names of more than a dozen medications off the top of your head.... You want a new scooter for Christmas! With a cool paint job!

RE: U Might have RA if... I LOVE chicken and steak fingers.:DIf, while camping, you get stuck in a bathroom stall that is so small your knees touch the door when you sit on the toilet and you can't get up because you need to rock forward. (Had to wait for my husband to come looking for me, happened at Baker Lake, Washington);)If you work in a building that is so cold that when you go to the bathroom, you run the hand dryer long enough to put all your joints under it to warm them, including your hips:w00t:

RE: U Might have RA if... The kids gave me crap about using it for the first time at the grocery store. Turns out there were no reserved spots left anyway. I had to park out in the back 40...about half an hour into the shopping trip my step-daughter asks, "Why are you hunched over the cart?" "I need a handicap parking permit...for inside the store...I hurt bad..." She actually asked me, "Why? What did you do?"
Arggghhh!
I was diagnosed 4 years ago for Criminy Sake!

Has anyone tried Crocks for foot pain? I have two pairs of Teva sandals, but for severe foot pain, I head to my crocks...four pairs in different colors...got 'em for nursing, but no longer work the floor. Great for pedal vasculitis and general exacerbations.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who fantasizes about having a "real" chronic illness...Just so that people will actually recognize that I'm actually sick and in pain... It's a relief to hear from others that think and feel similarly.
RE: U Might have RA if... (and you let them think it's a ghost...:P)
You put your bra on backwards and turn it around cause it's either that or the mardi Gra look...
You grab the collar of your dog for help to get you up the last few feet of hillside to level ground.
You have two differing pain killers; One for I hurt and the other for OMG, I did way too much yesterday....
When cleaning up the recyclable cans the dogs 'clean' out for you, You kick them all in the same 'reachable' area. Cat, groceries, UPS med box, etc.
Slip on shoes are almost all you wear;every thing else hasn't laces.
You have all the local kids convinced the nodules on your elbows are your attempt at growing another elbow....
Your body PAINFULLY SLAMS FYIs about RA when you arrive at an appt, after an hours drive and try to exit the car quickly.....yeah, right!
Wonderful to hear someone takes in old horses. Funny thing is I have been having trouble asking my church to put me on their prayer request list- because I don't know where to start first. I have been hiding it for almost a year.
