Sometimes speeches and political ads misrepresent, mislead or simply misinform. Factcheck.org is a good source for checking on the accuracy of the political candidate's message.

The issue of health care reform is important to me and many of us. An honest discussion of how to fix our health care system is ill served if campaigns/candidates misrepresent their opponents positions or proposals. Factcheck.org examines ads and speeches for accurate representations and truthfulness.

RE: Political Ads-Fact Check

Very interesting for an analysis of campaign rhetoric but seldom does performance come close to matching this for either party. I think all we really get is an idea of where each candidates priorities lie. Neither one shows signs of dealing with what I think is our major problem and that is our national debt. God bless.

RE: Political Ads-Fact Check

The links below are from factcheck.org and review the accuracy of McCain's and Obama's acceptance speeches:

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/factchecking_mccain.html

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/factchecking_obama.html

Annenberg, a publisher and philanthropist, that contributed to the Foundation that supports factcheck.org, was the publisher for TV Guide -- just some interesting background info.

Political Ads-Fact Check

I found this website www.factcheck.org helpful in discerning the accuracy of political ads, especially those that deal w/health care reform.
The following is their mission statement from their "about us" page from their website:

"We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit, "consumer advocate" for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. We monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases. Our goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.

The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg in 1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state, and federal levels.

The APPC accepts NO funding from business corporations, labor unions, political parties, lobbying organizations or individuals. It is funded primarily by the Annenberg Foundation."

http://www.factcheck.org/
