I posted 2 pictures on my profile if you want to take a look.  The second picture is my hand a week after the first surgery.  It was beautiful!  You can tell that the surgeon did a great job.  Then, 15 months later, the first picture shows the joints have all shifted and the surgery needed to be re-done.  They didn't take x-rays of the silicone joints that I now have.  ss

Hi, I have just read about your knuckle replacement although it was a couple of years ago. How are you now.

I am 60 and 10 weeks ago had 3 knuckles replaced with silicone implants on my right hand (I am left handed fortunately). It was the middle, ring and little fingers. Those fingers were bent and twisted to the side and the tendons had trapped further down the hand as my knuckles had disintergrated. I am thrilled with the outcome and am typing this fast with no pain. I can straighten all fingers and bend into a complete fist. I started driving again today with no trouble. My occupational therapist has been excellent and I have obeyed with hourly exercises, and now reap the benefits. My target was to play the piano again, not properly but enough to amuse myself. Yesterday I accepted a request to play 3 hymns at a memorial and thanksgiving service in our Civic Centre at the end of November so have a month to practice. This is beyond my wildest hopes and I am so thankful. Hope yours has been as successful as that.

I'm so glad you had such good luck with your knuckle replacements! I'm doing pretty well now but I still can't make a complete fist. I doubt that I ever will but it doesn't bother me. I hope you come back with updates from time to time. starshine
