| I took lodine a few years ago and stopped and then when I had a bone scan it showed contamination in my stomach and my doctor put me on it again last week and then Saturday morning I woke up with severe pain in my stomach so I had to go to the ER. The thing is I never had this type ofside effect from other NSAID's. What are some other "safe" drugs that may work. I know that all drugs have side effects. The belly pain is making me take longer to get to class and it takes me long er to do my school work. I did have a hard time eating when I first started the stomach pain but it is somewhat getting better..I am taking maxxlox (sp) and Prilosec OTC

You may need a prescription strenth for acid reflux such as Nexium. I know after years of being on NSAID's it has done it's damage on me. I have bad acid reflux, bad belching and I can feel the acid flowing up my throat sometimes. My stomach pain isn't too bad but maybe the acid reflux med helps out with that. For years my rheumy prescribed zantac with my NSAID. I've been on many over the years, currently i'm on mobic I don't know how you would tolerate it. I'm on the 15mg, it also comes in 7.5mg. | Thanks for the help. I am having less pain in my stomach with the help of prilosec. I am getting rid of the pain and pressure thouigh belching and farting and a lot of the second part. I dont know how much damage I have in my stomach but the ct scans are normal and I have a bone scan schuduled in 2 weeks ( my second one - 1st one was in 2004). My first bone scan showed contaimation in my stomach and my orthopeadic doctor siad that I should not worry about it back then. I just want some pain relief without having stomach problems.
