One of my first symptoms was the so called "Brain Fog" - not being able to remember simple things, etc. (I know this comes naturally w/ age, but this is ridiculous! I'm 42) Now my brain is working backwards - I say things like, those pants need wrinkling (instead of ironing), tell my daugther stay under the umbrella so you'll stay wet????
On and on - it's embarrasing! I teach grades 4-7 computer classes and this funny to them, but not to me. Has anyone else gone this "crazy"?
I have ra, oa, raynaud's,essential mixed cryoglobulinemia & hypertension - I'm on methotrexate, folic acid, lotrel, & plavix. Also jsut finished a round of predisone(possilbe side effects??)

I can really identify with the brain fog. And I so know the embarresment. I have come out from going to the store and got into the wrong car and when the gentalmen who owened the car came out and started walking toward the car. I was just floored to tears. Anyway I sure am glad to hear that I am not the only one.

My memory is awful anymore. A friend will tell me something in the morning and by that night I have forgotten the whole conversation. Fortunately, work hasn't been affected or maybe it has and I just forgot?

I too can relate to the brain fog, loss memory, and can't focus on the simplest of tasks.
I am confused though. Is this a symptom of RA? That is all I have been diagnosed with, but in all that I have read about RA, I see, joint pain, and swelling with heat, and fatigue.
Can RA effect us neurologicaly (sp)???

Kathryn,
It's not just RA, it's any and all auto-immune disease. As if the fatiuge alone isn't enough to make someone completely confused think about the meds you take for the disease. Lets not forget if you get sick or just don't feel well that day. If RA or other auto-immunes can affect other organs of the body why not the brain? I found out about 3 years ago I have a b-12 defiency after being on medical disabilty for nearly 3 years, I had eeg's,mri's all kinds of studies of the brain because I was having involuntary muscle movements. It really freaked me out because I was only about 23 yrs old and it's scary when you have a sharp knife in your hand and that is happening. Not to mention slurred speech, I would actually stutter. I have psoriatic arthritis but if I am feeling very tired my symptoms are much more worse or if i'm just fatiuged in general. The neuro I saw for quite some time had me on anti-seizure meds, anti-depressants but was not helping me at all with the problem, I could not even drive my own car. Which had to be taken back due to being on disabilty. Finally, after loosing my job because the docs didn't know what was wrong with me, I decided to try and find a new job and stop all the meds I was taking for this problem. So I went to Mayo Clinic to be seen in the Neurology dept come to find out the B-12 is what the problem is. All this for that a dietary thing I can take daily. I still do have issues with it when I am tired and sick, but it's something I don't have to worry am I going to crash the car or cut my hand off. I do drop things a lot. Anyway, just thought I would share my story. I do live in brain fog a lot of my life but we do what we have to do I guess. Good luck.
