Hi, So glad to hear from both of you.
I've read about the Orencia, So glad it is working for you Sharry8. And you are doing so good on the Pred.
I'd love to get off the Methotrexate.
RAgal. So glad your Mom is doing ok. I can't believe they sent her home at all, when she first went in. Hope she is back to normal again.
The meds. you are on must be working ok, for you to be off the pred. That's amazing.
I got along so good last fall and now I'm having alot of trouble. My jaw is now hurting, and I've grown a nodule? in my hip and it catches and hurts. My feet and hands and wrists take turns hurting me. Now I'm having pain in my leg , and the Rheumy's nurse says , Yes , I can have one leg hurting from the RA. Like , in the muscle. I guess. Family Dr. had an MRI of the knee and found torn Ligs, etc. Need surgery, Minor, I believe. I upped my pred. and it quit throbing, so I assume it is RA and torn tissue. It hurts the most when I set or lie down. Sucks. I know my RA isn't under control. The Remicade had it pretty much stopped, but I just couldn't handle it. And now my insurance won't pay for the Enbrel. So I will wait till the Dr. says I can try something else. I am much better off than I was several yrs. ago. When I couldn't dress myself. I'm getting by,
Hope you girls are having some fun.
I had a busy Christmas, and am expecting my 4th grandchild this mo.
I'm so glad to have something to look forward to. It helps.
Take care, Pin.

Hi RAgal and Pin,

It's good to hear from you both.

I'm glad that you were able to get off of Prednisone, RAgal. That's terrific!

Pin, I am so sorry you are not doing well. What did the Remicade do to you?
I'm having some problems with Remicade too, and I was hospitalized in early February after my second Remicad infusion. The dose was double what my first one was, and I got very sick and was forced to stay in bed most days for a week. Then a blood clot formed in my right lung and landed me in the hospital. I am slowly recovering, but I have to be on Coumadin for 6 months to prevent another clot.

I'm still on Remicade, but at a much lower dose. I can't say it is doing much for my RA, but my doc is hoping that it will work well enough to allow me to taper off of Prednisone, which I have been on for 7 years. I have a lot of side effects from the Prednisone. It's not much fun.

I hope you are able to get on Enbrel, Pin. I think Enbrel worked pretty well for me, but I wasn't able to get my Prednisone below 10mg daily.

RAgal, it's good your Mom is doing well. I hope you and she keep feeling better with every day.

Take good care.

Sharry

Hi gals!

I'm so sorry to hear about your blod clot and hospitalization, Sharry! How long is your doc waiting to see how the Remicade is working? I sure hope it helps you!

I'm so sorry, pin, about your knee! When are you having surgery? I sure hope you can get on some med. that will work for you and that your insurance will pay!

How is your new grandchild? I see you wrote in Feb. so you should have your 4th one by now! That's wonderful! Do you live close so you can see your grandkids? Congratulations!

I'm doing fine. My left wrist, though, just started to be swollen and it hurts. It is fused and has been since I had surgery in 1985. I had 3 knuckle joints and had to wear a brace. I think that fused it. Anway, it looks like the bone in my wrist is sticking out. I don't know what's going on, but I have an appointment with my rheumy in April, so I will show him.

Take care!

Hi Gals,
Hope both of you are doing better now.
RAgal, what did the Rheumy say about your wrist in April.?
Sharry8, Sorry to hear about your blood clot. Hope you are past that.
I was taking the strongest dose of Remicade I could take for my weight, and did so for yrs. Also took Vioxx for years. And ended up with blood clots in the lung and leg. I blamed the Vioxx for it, maybe that wasn't it at all. I wonder how many other people have had blood clots.? I know one of the precautions are blood disorders. That was a bad time.
I didn't have surgery on the knee, It was mostly the RA that was causing my pain.
Since I quit taking the Remicade, the RA has spread to my hips and knees. Dr. wants me to do the Orencia , but I'm reluctant.
The grandbaby is 4 mo. old now. 9# and a head of dark hair at birth. So sweet.
I've been so weak, all spring, will be glad when the rains are not so often, and the humidity is lower.
Take care , Pin

Hi Ladies,

I'm glad to hear from you.  I sure wish we all were doing better, though.

You have gone through a lot Pin and RAgal.

I am recovered from the pulmonary embolism, but now, I am scheduled for a total hysterectomy in 2 weeks, because of large fibroids.  Keep me in your prayers.

I hope this posting finds you both doing well.

It sure is nice to have the new AF Forum.

Best wishes.

Sharry

Hi Pin!

I haven't checked this site in such a long time and when I did a few months ago, I couldn't get it to work for me to write a reply!  I am trying again!

How are you?  Write here and let us know!  I will try to check more frequently!

I'm doing ok.  No change in meds for a long time, although, I had to stop using Methotrexate and Humira for about a month because of sores in my mouth that wouldn't heal.  I'm back on them again.  I have just used the Humira once and it is time to do it today, but I'm sick.  I'm going to the doctor this afternoon and if I get put on antibiotics, I won't be able to use Humira until next week.  Because both Metho and Humira suppress the immune system, it takes your body longer to heal.  I'm going to lay down now.  I'm going to rest before l go to the doctor.  I think it might be brochitits.

Take care, pin!  And tell us how you are!
