Hi - I'm new to this message board but really appreciate you are all here.

I hope to offer and receive support.

I am a 43 year old mom and student. I was diagnosed with RA about 1 1/2 years ago and have been on Remicade for about 1 year now. I take the lowest dose and go in every 8 weeks.

Last December I got a really bad cold and it took over 3 weeks to recover. I had to delay my remicade infusion by 2 weeks. My ankle and wrist started hurting quite a bit....more than I had experienced in over a year.

I had another infusion a couple of weeks ago and while my wrist has improved my ankle has not.

My Dr. got me a handicapped parking pass from the DMV but that does not help when I have to walk blocks between college buildings.

My question for people on Remicade for longer periods of time is this: Do you have to take higher doses or go in more frequently after a period of time? My Dr. has suggested that I can get a higher dose of Remicade next visit. But I am wondering if this is what I have to expect for the future....higher and higher doses, more and more frequently? That would be OK I guess if it works like the first few doses worked and if my liver can take it.....

Appreciate any info from long time RA patients who can offer a glimpse for me of my future.

Cathy
