I am a long time fibromyalgia sufferer. Recently I had some odd symptoms that I first thought may be indications of heart trouble. So far the testing I have had has shown no heart trouble. In my reading on fibromyalgia I found that chest pains were listed as possible fibromyalgia symptoms. The whole incidence has made me search more for support in dealing with fibro.

I totally understand your frustration and your pain. I love the AF message boards, but I also get support from the National Fibromylagia Association. Good luck to you and I hope you find the support you need. There are some great people on these message boards! Peace and Blessings, Michelle

I get those, but I have not been told they are anything major. Others get an actual condition with a name (ok help me here because I will spell it wrong.......)
My dr. said to just put both hands on a door frame and stretch out. The darn thing sure does hurt bad, and it does feel like heart trouble.

Emma are you thinking of angina? That is what the dr. thought my symptoms sounded like. I still have trouble with shortness of breath but I haven't had the pain I had before.

I think the word you're looking for is Chostochondriditis (sp?), which is the inflammation of the cartliges, etc. in the chest/sternum area. I've had that since I was in my early 20's and I mean EARLY!!!!

I remember going to the ER when I was 19 years old, thinking I was having a heart attack and it was Chostochondritis (sp???)!!! It hurts like I don't know what... like someone is standing in the middle of your chest, or a ton of bricks with some burning going on.

I hate this DD (and the other stuff going on with me) because heart disease runs in my family and what's going to happen one day... I'm going to having actual cardiology issues and I'm afraid I'm going to think it's this DD, or one of the others going on with me.

Hope this helped!

Krissy

Krissy, thanks for the info. on Chostochondritis. I have found there are a number of different causes to the type of pain I had. It does help to know that it isn't necessarily heart related although heart conditions do run in the family.
I have not had any more problems with this type of pain but I am more careful how I do things.
