A friend just sent me an article from the NY Times on this. It sounds promising. I'm supposed to have THR in the Fall. Wondering if any readers have gone this route, and what their experiences have been?

There are some threads on hip resurfacing, the subject has come up several times over the past few years.

Hello M K6! I'm glad to tell you about my experience with hip resurfacing! I had bilateral resurfacing in April of 200. My surgeon was Harlan Amstutz of the Joint Replacement Institute in Los Angeles, Ca. I am doing extremely well! I am back dancing (ballet) and teaching full time, I have most of my range of motion back and I feel wonderful! Resurfacing is definately worth looking into if you would like to remain active! I'm so glad I did this surgery, as opposed to a traditional thr. I have no restrictions, and I have my femur intact, with no long spike down the center of it. I like that! I hope this helps you - keep looking for information on resurfacing. I'm very surprised ther is none that I can find on the Arthritis Foundation site.

Hello RuthZ! Sorry for my english, ´cause I´m from Spain and I haven´t practice since a long time ago. I´ve just read your message and I can´t wait to ask you for the hip resurfacing. Now I´m 29 with RA since I was 26 but so active that for the moment (I hope) I´ve finished on a wheelchair due to my hips, and waiting to get better to have a prothesis on both hips. I also use to dance ballet every day and the worst thing for me of having RA is that I can´t dance anymore, so if there´s a possibility... Please tell me about your experience, Ican´t wait to know everithing about it. My e-mail: virgvidal@hotmail.com Thanks, thanks, thanks
