Does anyone know of a lawsuit against the makers of prednisone and how to be a part of it? I have had many side effects from it--the biggest--2 new hip replacements. Everyone involved in my care knows that it is from osteonecrosis, caused from prednisone. It is NOT from my RA! It is a totally different issue. I was 23 and put on it without nowing this. SO, here I sit at 31 w/2 new hips all from prednisone. I was told of the other side effects but NEVER about my femur bone dying and breaking inside of me!!!! PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN AND PLEASE HELP SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS ON IT!

No, I don't know who the makers are of it. The problem is that Prednisone is a generic as far as I know. You can't really sue the makers for not informing you though that is more the doctors and pharmacy's responsibilty for informing you about all the drugs side effects. I would say more the pharmacy. Most people research the drug online before going on it. I know here in Florida, my Prmary docs office always has this video playing on what cordicord steriods can do to your bones and oral steriods that people take for arthritis so that is pounded in my head every time I visit their office. lol! I know I probably spelled the first of those two wrong but it's the injections into the joints the second would be the Prednisone. I hate taking Prednisone for so many reasons, weight gain, the risks of what it can do as far as all the side effects, as if the arthritis doesn't do enough wear and tear we do not need the risk. I did a 15 day of Prednisone but have only done very short dose packs of the oral steriods a few times before I got on Enbrel. There are times to use it. I just could not take it on a daily basis and my rheumy would never put me on it long term. I think this is a problem with a lot of arthritis patients and why they end up going downhill so fast because the do go on it, yeah they get pain relief but it's wearing away their bones as well. Most people do know the risks but say they would rather live somewhat pain free than to not be able to move. I wish I had some advice but I have never heard of a Prednisone lawsuit. Good luck to you!

Searching here are some site that may help you and give more info..

http://www.uspharmacist.com/oldformat.asp?url=newlook/files/Phar/ACFA4DA.html&pub_id=8&article_id=644

Contact a lawyer near you.. one that work for free until you win your case and see what they say. I have put on Prednisone too and had my heart pounding really fast and being dizzy. I called the doc. and he tried to tell me it would pass on to stay on it. Needless to say I took myself down off of it and found a new doctor. My new doc informed me it was too high of a dos for me and that it should only be used if we are in serve pain and nothing else is working. I can take it now if I have to but very short term and very low dos. However I'm only 27 and even I have pain in my hip that I didn't have before and having ruff days of walking.. but my doc just blaims it on the RA. I think I stay off of Prednisone too. I just not worth the risk. But no one told me that it could harm bones either I was just warned about the weight Gain.

I agree with Keli's post. It is indeed generic and has been around for more than 50 years. The methyl prednisone caused my heart to race, but the regular prednisone didnt. I am stil on it and have bone loss from it now and have to take meds for that. Lawyers will try to get anyone to sue over any drug these days, but there are much more dangerous meds out there that really need that attention. The side effects suck, I agree and I am not happy about bone loss, etc... but its a necessity for most wtih RA and you really dont ever want to let the RA get out of control... or it can get really bad. Talk to your doctor.

Well, i think bone loss is a super big deal and big enough to sue over considering I was never told about bone death and here sit at 31 with 2 total hip replacements (9 months apart)from prednisone--NOT RA!!!! it is completely due to osteonecrosis. Your bone (femur) dies and then collapses in your body and it is as painful as it sounds. I was NEVER told about this and I plan to find someone who will listen. I hope all who are on this crap will consider my story--even if its all you think you can be on. Hip replacements are hard, expensive, and life changing and on top of it all--preventable in my case!

Wanted to reply because I too took Prednisone and I have serious hip and shoulder joint damage. This happened to me years ago. I did file a lawsuit against the dr. that gave me the drug. I lost the case. Would love to go after that drug company, but, don't think it's possible.

It is, and has long been, well known that osteonecrosis, particularly of the hip, is a risk with prednisone. I don't think you'll have much luck suing the (various) makers of prednisone. It would be a different situation if, say, those makers knew that and didn't disclose it. You can google "prednisone and osteonecrosis" and get thousands of results. As much as we'd like to think that our doctors should never let bad things happen to us, patients have some responsibility in the matter, too. If your doctor prescribes something, you should look up all the potential side effects and discuss them before you start taking the medication. I know it sucks that this happened to you, but not everything that sucks is the basis of a lawsuit.
And just so you don't think I can't relate, I'm 30, and I have two knee replacements, a hip replacement, and a recently revised knee replacement. So I get it. But you can't sue, and you shouldn't.

Hello

Are you like me suffering from pains? I had these pains caused by arthritis pretty long time.
However I had luck to find the device which helped me to get rid of these pains quickly.
I purchased this device called Mag-Healer from the on-line store www.wright-wellis.us.
My life is much better now. I can recommend this device to you. Have a great day.
Regards Ed

Aloha!

My husband is 28 and needs a total hip replacement due to a huge injection of Prednisone. Have you found anything out in your research? We just got the diagnosis after 2 years of hell, and we would love to join you if you find a way to fight this. Prednisone has taken our life, and the life of our family!

My husband is 48 years old and permanetly disabled. He was diagnossed with a severe case of a-vascular nercrosis years ago. He has had six hip surgeries including full bi-lateral hip replacements. He took large dosages of prednisone for long extented periods of time for over nine years. Prednisone ate his hips. The Dr.s have been very candid with us that Prednisone was the the cause of his illness. Years ago we persued a law suit against the Dr.s that prescribed the prednisone but there were to many to hold any one accountable. I am intrested in finding out if we could hold the manufactures of the actual drug responsible. Prednisone took away the quality of my husbands life. He has been in and out of wheelchairs for years. He lives on massive pain meds and patches. Knowone should suffer with the kind of daily pain he lives with. Prednisone robbed him of quality life, robbed me of a active and whole husband and robbed my children from ever knowing the man he used to be. He was Mr. California 1986 healthy and Vibrant. Please let me know if u hear of any law suits we could become a part of regarding prednisone. I have been the bread winner for my family the last 15 years and I could use some help. Thank You Denise
