Hi everyone. I have been on Tramadol, 2-50mg tablets every 8 hours for almost 2 years (along with other meds).
Recently my rheumie also rx'd one amitriptyline (10mg) per day. When I got it filled, there was a warning that a 74 woman had died from [they believe] combining the two meds. And she was only taking ONE 50mg tablet every 8 hours. I am afraid to start the meds (it was rxd 6-5!) and dont want to feel stupid challenging my doctor (he has been so good to me I hate to rock the boat by appearing to doubt him.) Thought I would first check with all of you to see if anyone else out there is on this combination of meds without any conflict. If not, then I will ask my doctor about it next visit. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks so much. Peace and Blessings, Michelle

I have been on both of those meds without any problems. I don't take the Tramadol anymore because it did not help my pain any way. The dose of Amitriptyline is a very tiny one.
I would be interested to find out more circumstances in that woman's death. There are so many things in this world that can harm or kill us that it is hard to know what to do about anything. Even an overdose of water can kill!!!

Starshine,
Thanks much for your input. I appreciate it. I am just nervous because I take so many different meds, piroxicam, tramadol, hydrocodone, humira, mtx, and levothyroxine..... that for some reason adding the amitriptyline made me nervous. Because I am always in so much pain, I thought the piroxicam and tramadol were not working. That was until I had to go off them for two weeks. I realized then that it atleast does a little something. I dont think I will ever feel completely pain free again in my life. Anyway, I appreciate your response.
Peace and Blessings,
MIchelle
