Are you on any other meds? I haven't heard of Enbrel causing spontaneous bruising but Prednisone can. If you are not on any other meds, talk to your doc about adding something. When I first started Enbrel, I was on Arava and my energy level went way up. Also, look aroung for aids to help you open bottles and jars. I have several and couldn't live without them. My favorite is an under the cupboard V shaped jar and bottle opener. And buy some shelf liner, the kind with the waffle look to it. Cut it into small pieces and use it to grip anything you want to open. ss

The continued pain may be that your arthritis is not being well controlled. Definitely talk to your rheumatologist.

As to bruising. I bruise really easily. Always have. But, if you never have before, again, mention it to your doctor. There are some other autoimmune conditions and medical conditions that could cause such bruising.

Thankyou both for your comments I will try some of your suggestions about the jar openers. yes I'm on other meds but not for arthritis I'm on seizure meds to help control my seizures and I'm on stomach meds so that the meds don't hurt my stomach.

Today I got a new kind of pain that was in my pelvic bone and my leg sockets the pain was so intence that it was a burning and my legs where weak and sore it hurt so bad that it made me cry and I'm use to pain and the only pain I cry over is migraines and thankfully I haven't had a very bad one in four years. but I did use a heating pad to help releave some of the pain I was so weak form the pain my legs that I didn't even go and take anything for the pain I just laid on the couch for two hours. but I was wondering if anyone feels very week and sore the day before and the day of that your due for a dose of enbrel?

Well, I'm not on Enbrel any more, and when I was on it, it didn't help me at all. I will say that with Remicade, I can definitely tell when I'm about to go in for an infusion. Stiffness, weakness, pretty much the beginnings of a flare.

It really sounds like the Enbrel isn't quite strong enough. Maybe if you broke it up into two 25mg shots each week the spacing would make the effects not wear off when you're due for a shot (I've heard of some people doing this).

So, you're not on MTX or any other DMARD (plaquenil, azulfidine, etc)? Adding one in might get you under better control. The addition of a NSAID also might help. I take Methotrexate, Remicade, and Daypro (NSAID). I need all 3 to keep the PsA under control.

Pelvic bone? Might really be hip pain. True hip joint pain is felt in the groin area (maybe what you mean by pelvic bone???). It sucks. I have major issues with both my hips and sacroiliac joint (Where your spine meets with the hips and all that). Heating pads help. When it's bad, I use a cane to help take the weight off of whichever hip is bothering me most. Anyway, such pain is common to the spondylitis sub-type of PsA.

Hi LadyeMac
I do take ebrel twice a week I take 25mg's on monday and thursday and I was on a NSAID for the swelling. I was on Naproxen but I took myself off of it for a month to see if my body would notice a differents the only differece i notice is that I don't bruise that much anymore. the swelling isn't to bad I'm going to call my dr. office tommorrow and have them call in a script for me.
I never thought to think that the pain in my pelvic and leg joints could be my hips that is another question to add to the list for my next visit in jan. thanks for the comments and about the meds I'm going to ask my doc about them and tell her how I've been feeling.

Constipation can cause severe pelvic pain. So can a number of female problems. So it might not be related to your arthritis. Just a thought.

Hi Amber

My wife is also on seizure meds. Her seizures were well controlled for 9 years but after she started on Enbrel 2 months ago, she started getting the seizures back. I was just wondering if you experiences anythings like this. in regards to your seizure. Your response would be much appreciatd.

Thanks

I've been on enbrel now for over 4yrs.  My dermatologist prescribed it for my skin problem psioris.  It works pretty well even though over time you have to have a higher dose 25mg to 50mg.  Funny thing happened after I had 2 epideral injections in my back for my back problem, my psioris pretty much went away and left my skin smooth as a baby.  So I decided to try and cut back on my enbrel injection dosages about half.  I notice after doing this that if I do not have the enbrel I lose energy (feel tired most of the time) and have cold symptoms mostly coughing from congested head.  Can I eventually get off enbrel or is it a habit now?
