I was recently diagnosed w/ RA. I'd had all the classic symptoms, and I was looking for anything to help ease the pain until I could get into my first appt w/ the rheumatologist. So I started looking at everything in my life that could affect my arthritis from exercise and diet to stress. I'm about 20 pounds overweight so I wanted to lose the extra weight. I went to the bookstore and settled on the Abs Diet for Women, which is basically just healthy eating. It includes lots of fiber rich fruits and veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains. The day after I started the diet I noticed a dramatic difference. I had no morning pain or stiffness, no trouble getting out of bed, and my energy level had increased a bit. And this was BEFORE I started any type of drug treatment. I'm not any type of medical professional, but I just thought I'd share this info and hope it could help someone else. If anyone else tries this and it helps out please post. Good luck!

Dear Grad,
Usually it takes a long time for diet to have any effect, if any. Perhaps the weather changed? or something else?
Before I was diagnosed I tried a couple diets, none of which did anything. There are some people that have an allergy which causes RA symptoms, and they have tried an elimination diet--you can google.
Losing weight is good and so is a good healthy diet with a lot of fruits and vegatables and oily fish.
Good luck, hope you feel great for a long time.
Anna
