Hello everyone, Aundrea has had some problems this week. She started having dizziness, nausea, and headaches. She has been having sorethroats at night and occasional joint pains off and on thru-out the day and fatigue. Anyway I called her dr. thinking that the high doses of naproxyn must be the culprit but instead he is keeping her on the naproxyn and adding short term pred. starting off with 10 mg and tapering down over 1 month. Might consider Methotrexate after that. We go back to see him next week. Have any of you done short term pred along with naproxyn? If so was it successful? Thanks, Sonia

We have done Naproxen and the Pred. Pred will get you some immediate results. It is powerful stuff. It should knock down the flare. If you haven't been on pred. before, it can make your daughter a little hyper and talkative. Make sure you give it in the a.m. Good luck and take care. If you have any more questions, let me know. (One thing to keep in mind is that Methotrexate take several weeks to kick in 6-12 weeks. Therefore, you may need to stay on Pred. until MTX kicks in.) Take care Amy

HI, Brena takes Pred also. I recomend giving it in the AM also. It can cause sleep issues, mood swings, weight gain(specially most quickly facial swelling) like many of the other meds tour kids take it also will decrease her immune system. It can have some pretty nasty side effects BUT it is also a potent treatment. Breanatakes it roughly every 12 days for 4 days. If I can answer any more ?'s let me know Tracy
