My son 9 year old son got Lyme's Disease summer of 2002; it took 2 months to diagnose him, then he had 3 weeks of antibiotics, but he didn't get better because then he got mono followed closely by strep throat, and then he started having joint pain again; the pedrheum at that point just treated him with Naprosyn. He was better by Xmas. Anyway, Sept. this year he began to have bilateral ankle pain, but mild; in November the ankle pain returned with moderate left knee pain and pain/pressure in the chest. I just took him back to my pediatrician (takes too long to get into the pedrheumy);he redid the Lyme's titers, full arthritis panel, etc. Tells me the Lyme's titers are way down, but sed rate is 56; says the Lyme's is gone, but it has triggered an autoimmune disease (no name). We see the pedrheum at the end of the month. Anybody have Lyme's trigger an autoimmune disease?

There is a tremendous controversy about Lyme disease and what blood testing is reliable. lymenet.com might be a good place to start.
