How we vote at the polls this November will inevitably leave an indelible mark, not only on the future of health care and our quality of life, but also on history.

We are all in a catch 22. I am working because we cannot afford private health coverage as I am classified as high risk. Before I started back to work we were spending 1400 a month on private coverage. During this period of time my car was repossessed because of the health care premiums and copays and the coverage was not that great. I am blessed that I have a job with good insurance, but I am terrified of what will happen if I were to become to sick to work or what would happen if I lost my job. I notice on my EOB's that the insurance companies only pay the Dr and hospitals a small percent of what is charged, why can't they charge everyone like that? What we pay in copays and then what the Dr gets remimbursed by the insurance company is exactly what I paid for an office visit 28 years ago, which is about 40.00, (I still have my receipts). I recently got out of the hospital and noticed that for my ekg, it was billed at 655.00 dollars, insurance paid them 133.00, I have already met my deductible so there was no copay. What is wrong with this picture? I don't think Universal Health Care is the answer, the answer is hospitals and dr's charging a fair amount to begin with and not stick it to people with out insurance. If they would charge the discounted amount to begin with and quite neogiating with the insurance companies, almost like they are working under the table to make them both look good.
The drug companies, I know they spend a lot in research and drugs are expensive, but are they really that expensive? I also don't like generics because of being manufactured out of this country, some in China. Is there an FDA inspector there full time? I don't think so. Look at dog food andtoys manufactured in China. I don't trust the situation, but am sometimes forced by the insurance company to buy generic. I also don't like it that an insurance company can tell my dr they won't cover the increase in meds because they have determined I am on a large enough dose. What may be right on for a patient on paper does not mean it is right for every patient.
