I was recently dx with Fibro after a 2 week long flare up that they initially thought was my AS.  My questions is...at the begining of the flare it started with generalized swelling, my hands, face, eyes, chim, knees, ankles, feet.  While my rheumo gave me very little info on Fibro I have spent the last 3 weeks scouring the net looking for any info to help me be pro-active in this.  The thing is I have never seen this listed as a symptom.  Anybody else here experience this?

My next question is about this newly aquired speech issue.  I have the words in my head but I really have to stop & put forth an effort to get them out & when I do there is almost a studder & alot of mixed up wprds coming out ( I think one thing but spit out something completely diff)  Is this a norm symtom for fibro??

Hi All,

I was dx with fibro a bit over a year ago.  It's amazing how time flies.  I have found that some of the symptoms I have are not on the "official" list.  But, I have spoken with many others that have fibro and it helps to relax me.

My doc has agreed that the swelling of hands, feet, etc is from fibro and I do have a loss of words alot these days.  They say the Lyrica is supposed to help, but I'm taking so many meds now that my head seems to spin at times.

Your vision may be affected as well.  Its become very hard to focus and read labels.

It appears that fibro tends to be a learning process and some have only a small hint of it while others, like me, have it full blown.  I am only 44 and never had a health issue until last year when I was dx.  I am trying to work full time, but haven't made it an entire two weeks straight since I've gone back to work in January.

Take care

Kris

Hello,

I thought maybe it was just me! I have RA & Fibro and have noticed I have a hard time putting words together too! Studdering is something I have trouble with too. I thought for awhile it was the meds I was on. Come to think of it I do think its the meds. ARE YOU ON MTX????

Tammy

God Bless all my RA Friends!

Cognitive problems, memory problems and what they call fog are very common with fibro and if I am not mistaken, with other autoimmune conditions.

I had a bad day the other day.  Am in group leadership training at church.  I went to say something and the whole thing came out in a huge jumbled mess.  I am usually really well spoken and I usually can make things make sense, but the other day no.

My husband doesnt even get it, but I am constantly jumbling words and things up.  Especially and mainly during flares. It's very common and very very frustrating.

I was a front end manager/trainer for a grocery chain and I was on my feet constantly on concrete, and lifting things, speaking often during training, etc. I had fibro for about five years of that work period and I had to work, no choice. I had fibro fog so bad some days, I wonder still how I managed that job and got raises, etc. Apparantly I did fine under pressure, but when I would get into my truck and try to sit to drive after work, it was a nightmare, everything was swollen and my muscles were in knots.

One of the most common fibromyalgia symptoms is the "FOG"....It's not pretty! Another thing about fibromyalgia is, it covers a lot of ground. A lot of doctors use the term too loosely. I had a friend that was dx with it and yet, never once did she have any of the classic symptoms. She basically had the flu for a longer period of time than the norm.....She got over it finally.

HA.....I only thought I had fatigue before I got RA. Now with the two diseases combined I am so tired all the time. It's so important to get into some type of pain management and stick with it with Fibro. It can remission quite nicely. I just wish I could get both of these puppies under control at the same time...I can dream..LOL

Plaquenil 600mg., Metoprolol 200mg.,, Hydrocodone 10/500, Elavil 100mg, Lisinopril 20mg,Ativan, Omega Complex, Milk Thistle
Primary Lupus and SecondaryRA, Fibromyalgia/CFS, Raynauds, Sjogrens...

Big weight out of my shoulder  What A Relief
, reading everybody comments, I do have severe Fibro and Ankylosing Spondolitis, S'jogrens and some others.

I notice myself this year, that sometimes I knew what I want it to say something and just did not come right when saying it, or write down something and I misspelled, in the beginning I was very worry, my husband did not notice that I was worry, he always though that was a normal thing that sometimes I want it to say for example I want a dessert and I ended saying address  Crazy crazy ahh!! Also I do no know if you noticed  but I do have a hump between my shoulders and neck area is not big but when I do have flares it hurts or is stiff and ache.

Let me ask you, HAVE YOU HAVE ANY TROUBLE EATING  Hungry OR TRYING TO PASS FOOD , that's another symptom of fribro, well wish all the best and let's keep in touch

Cheers
