Ihave been on mtx for 23 years and am considering switching to one of the biologic meds due to kidney problems. I would love to hear from anyone who has experience with the biologics. I took Enbrel for 1 yr and it caused me to get renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) and I lost my right kidney to it in 2005. I now have to decide which of two evils I will take from this point forward: continus mtx and develope severe kidney problems with the 1 kidney I have left, or switch to a different biologic and risk getting cancer again. What a choice!!!! I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Wow, looks like you have really been thru it with your arthritis and the meds. I recently had to see a kidney specialist. I have never been on mxt and am very thankful. Right now we are just watching the kidneys they say there have been some surface changes. One of my blood protiens are elevated but other than that things seem to be ok. White blood cell count, hemaglobin and hemacrit have all been elevated for months they want me to see a hematologist but I have not so far. I've been on enbrel for a good 5 to 6 years and we all know cancer is a very high likely hood. Really said we have to choose between that or the pain right? Hope you are doing well!
