Today was cardio day.

45 minutes on the dreadmill

I alternated 1/4 mile walking and 1/4 mile jogging. I finished 3.5 miles in the 45 minutes.

Quick shower and back to my desk with wet hair.

Gracious, I've fallen behind again.

Let me think of the week past, see what I remember:

Saturday: weightlifting -- legs
Sunday: running -- 6.4 miles
Monday: weightlifting -- upper body (not a good workout if I recall, I really just goofed around and talked)
Tuesday: weightlifting -- legs
Wednesday: elliptical -- 15 minutes (1.5 miles) and running -- 30 minutes (3 miles)
Thursday: weightlifting -- upper body

tomorrow will be cardio (running probably); Saturday will be tennis; Sunday may be weightlifing or rest.

I've been retaining water terrible this week. I dropped my carb intake, but I haven't dropped the water yet. Had sashimi with soy sauce on Tuesday night, so lots of sodium. Bloaty, bloaty, bloat bloat bloat

I'm a journal slacker.

I have not been as motivated to work out lately. I'm not enjoying my workouts like I used to. I'm still training, I'm still running a bit, I've started swimming laps some. None of it is thrilling me. I'm still moving. I'm still taking care of myself. I'm not where I want to be. I just need to fight through this slump.

This weekend I did push myself pretty hard. On Saturday I lifted weights and then swam 15 laps (750 meters total). On Sunday I ran 5.5 miles.

Today I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes and lifted some upper-body weights and did some ab work.

Hi Beth,

Just wanted to say we all go thru slumps just try not to get to discouraged. I know I had a flare with asthma and allergies and missed nearly 2 weeks of working out myself. Even using my inhalers I couldn't stop coughing and that was just sitting so now I'm getting back on the ball again. So stay motivated!

My friends on the Let's Move Together team gave me a poke to get me journaling again. Sorry that I slacked off.

My exercise routine has continued on pretty much unabated. I traveled last week for business, so that interrupted my schedule a bit.

Why don't I just start over with October 1.

Thursday, October 1:
Travel to Chicago. No exercise. An excess of food that included a gyro in Greektown, pasta with pesto-cream sauce, and tiramisu.

Friday, October 2:
Woke up early and hit the gym in the hotel to work off some of Thursday's excesses. Ran 5 miles on the treadmill while listening to a podcast of This American Life (love that show!). Attended my meetings, then traveled back home again.

Saturday, October 3:
Got up and went out to breakfast with the family to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday. Not much of a celebration, I know, but I was in Chicago for her actual birthday. I ate an egg-white omelet with veggies and goat cheese, wheat toast, and fruit. Daughter had hot chocolate, cinnamon roll, and Belgian waffle. She went to the carnival with her best friend and had a sleep-over Saturday night (my Daughter's b-day is October 1 and her best friend's b-day is October 4, so this event was the real b-day celebration). Since daughter was at the carnival with her friends, my friend and I took our sons to the carnival. I ate junk food and did not exercise at all.

Sunday, October 4:
Went to the gym in the morning and lifted weights for 45-60 minutes. Had a tennis match in the afternoon.

Monday, October 5:
I was wicked busy at work and didn't make it to the office gym because I worked through my lunch hour. I didn't get out of the office until 5:30, home at 6:30, finished dinner at 7:00, ran to the library to return some books, home at 7:30 or 8:00. Too worn out by that time to head off to the gym. No exercise.

Tuesday, October 6:
Determined to get in some cardio today. I have a conference call tonight 6:30-7:30, so I knew I had to get the exercise done during my lunch break. Did 4 miles on the treadmill in 45 minutes. I did a combination of walking and running. Intervals, if you will. Took a quick shower, and came back to my desk with wet hair and no makeup. That's OK exercise is more important than looking cute!

Wednesday:

Got in a bit of an argument with my husband after work. I had already planned on going to the gym, but this spat sent me out the door with vigor -- and perhaps a slammed door. I worked out hard. I did:

Conventional Dead lifts: 115 lbs x 4 sets of x 10 reps
Push-ups with feet up on bench: 4 sets of 10
Seated rows: 100 lbs x 4 sets x 10 reps
Leg press: 180 lbs x 4 sets x 12 reps
Lat raises: 10-lb DBs x 3 sets x 12 reps
Romanian Dead Lifts: 95 lbs x 3 sets x 10 reps
Bicep curls: 30-lb BB x 2 sets x 12 reps
Triceps extensions: 30-lb BB x 2 sets x 10 reps

Thursday:
I went and walked outside today at lunchtime. ~45 minutes. Very lovely outside. A good break from the office.

Sorry not to update daily. Once I get home for the weekend, I tend to stay away from the computer.

Friday: Yoga class and a step aerobics class

Saturday: I had a Girl Scout outing and errands and chores, so I didn't do any exercise

Sunday: Tennis match and weight lifting. All tolled, I exercised for about 2.5 hours Sunday.

Monday: Walked for 45 minutes on the treadmill at a 5% incline

I weighed and measured myself this morning. My weight has been fairly stable (although 4 pounds higher than I'd like), but my measurements have gone up. This indicates to me that I've lost some muscle mass and gained some fat mass. Not the direction I'd like to be headed. Need to eat less and work harder.

Tuesday:
Went to the gym after work.

Elliptical: 30 minutes, hills program, level 15 (on a scale of 1-25)
Treadmill: 15 minutes, flat, just over 1.5 miles

Wednesday:
Nothing yet today. I plan on going to the gym this evening and lifting weights.

I'm going out to lunch with a coworker today. I got very hungry at ~11:00 and ate 2 cookies Oh well. life goes on. I want soup and sandwich for lunch. It is absolutely freezing in my office and I need something warm to eat.

Thursday:

Not a good day. Had a meeting at work. After the meeting, I got a phone call from the nurse at my daughter's school. She wasn't feeling well. I had to leave work -- which meant missing another meeting -- and go get her from school. She claimed she had a sore throat and congestion, etc. However, when I picked her up and started asking her a few questions, I learned that she ate no breakfast and bought only a drink for lunch. Can't imagine why she was feeling bad. Kids. Ugh.

I was stressed about missing work and angry with my daughter for pulling me away from work for her nonsense. My reaction to stress is to eat, and eat, and eat. So that's what I did. All afternoon long.

My workout for the day was supposed to be tennis lessons from 7:00 to 9:00. However, the rain is never ending, so lessons were canceled. So, I ended up taking the day off as a rest day.

I hope today goes better.

I see I've got some catching up to do!

Friday: Walk on treadmill for 42 minutes (2.5 miles)
Saturday: Weight lifting
Sunday: Tennis
Monday: Ran 3 miles
Tuesday: Chin-ups, push-ups, abs, stretching

My body is feeling a bit run down. I don't exactly feel sick, but my muscles and joints are achy. Working out has been a challenge the past few days.
