Hi Sue....I am having another bone scan done this Thursday, to see whats going on with a knee replacement. It's a good diagnostic tool for arthitis, they can see the "hot spots" of inflammation on the film.  I even saw them myself, on this monitor next to me, the inflamed area's were darker on the film.  They told you to come back in 3 hours to do the xrays?..I hope they tell me that, instead of 90 minutes, but at least i can go grab something to eat.

Yes its differant than a bone density test..Thats good you have had both of them!

Hi Pat thank you for getting back to me yes I saw a picture at the side of me & I thought the light areas might have been the hot spots thank you for putting me on the right track it's so good talking to some one who has been through all this, everybody that I've spoken too say they have never heard of one so that worried me slightly so is this your second one, the only part I found difficult was when they fastened my hands, & feet up I was in so much pain with them being in that position & didn't want to say anything to the nurse in case she had to stop & start all over again fool I know

Take care & best wishes Sue

Hi Sue again....this will be my 4th or 5th one, over the years... had one in 10/08....they are keeping an eye on a knee replacement. I am going to ask for a wedge under the knees, to help my back....and beg and plead to let me at least arch my back, i mean its like 45 minutes long....Those tables are so hard...They always give me the envelope of the films, souvenier, they are like 8x10 size...and i can see the dark spots, like in wrists...and the feet!..the problem areas

At least they talk to you in between sets, are you ok?..LOL

But its my ortho ordering it...i hope they say 3 hours come back, get a little shopping and lunch beforehand

take care

Sue, it's going to take me 5 minutes to straighten up from that hard table!...I think they have the radiologists report the next day.  I'm getting it done where i had it last, and they are a hospital that was bought out by another..So they are changing systems, and i don't like it!..There is no medical records room. You have to go the the hospital lobby, sign papers, and put it into a box, and pay for each copy., and it can take time, days......Unless i just wait till i see the ortho on 4/23 for the results...and get my copy then, after all, the rheummy would want a copy also. So for me, with my long medical history, electronic medical records would help

Another place i go to, its close to home, so i just sign the paper, wait, and they give me a copy of anything, like xray, cat scan, bloodwork, for my file of body parts, in 5 minutes

keep smiling & if you ever need help I hope I can be of some help to you

Hi Sue Morris!

My 75 years decaying bones are having OA for the last 35 years. For past 10-15 years I have'nt been taking any pain killers or any doctor's visit for this painful disease. It started from my right-knee in 1975 and now with passage of time, its inflicting different parts of my body. Anyhow I'm having normal practices of my life without any hinderance. The treatment I'm having does not cure OA or RA, but simply keep the disease in check. I simply advise you use the same natural medicine I'ave been using for years. Its "Termeric" yellow powder. Termeric is a root, powder of which is used in spices throughout China, India and other far-east and south-asian countries. You can find in any Chinese or Indian grocery shop. Take one teaspoon full, dilute in a cup of milk, warm it and drink once, first thing in morning, if pain chronic, twice in a day. You will get result in 2-3 months. Its unharmful with no side effect. If it cannot work with you, it cannot harm you even. Continue your doctor's medicines and consultations till you are sure you find difference in your pain intensity. When you mark distinct sympton of pain subsiding, gradually stop doc's medicines and consultations. Continue this natural treatment for at least 6-8 months. This is the treatment my wife and me are having for years without any difficulty. If it works on you, which I'm sure it will, spread the treatment to your friends and families without any obligation. Any question, ask at hitt2000@yahoo.com. IH.

Turmeric is also recognized somewhat in Western medicine but it does not seem to be very popular.  The link below is to an old post from a site that I think usually has good information.  I hope it can help some.  God bless.

Age 82, diagnosed RA 12/2001, married since 1952, 4 sons no daughters, 4 grandsons 1 granddaughter.  Doing well on Methotrexate and Remicade.
