My name is emeka and i'm 21. I've been living with post traumatic arthritis on my right hand since i was 18 years old and this thing has taken its toll on me. My cartilages are completely worn out on my index and middle finger, also my wrist and thumb base and this really sucks. my doctor said that he will replace just the index knuckle and this should help with the pain. I will also get my wrist fuse months after the replacement and i'm plain scared about what my livelihood will. is there anyone who is just as young and have had a joint replacement, how is yours working out for you?

Hello! I am 24 and I have had two joint replacements in my right hand. Same joint replaced twice, 1st time when I was 19 2nd time when I was 21. I also have had my pointer finger fused. I have had these surgeries because of a bad accident. I have experienced little to no pain after replacing the joint. The fusion I regret, very limiting and weird feeling. I would write more but I am typing one-handed due to holding a sleeping baby..any Q's just ask

Hi, I'm 40ish and have RA.

I have had about 25 surgeries mostly on my hands. When I was your age I have some artificial knuckles replaced on my right hand. They still work to some degree. It is 23 years later that I am considering getting my hands worked on again. The technology has changed! Back in the day I was the youngest person in the USA to get an artificial wrist. Are you not a candidate for wrist replacement?

Do what you you need to keep your hands moving. Yes, it's scary but not as scary as losing use of a limb. My wrists are not fused because I wanted to have the movement. I went for replacement. Now I am going to go back. I got 20+ years on some of my original artificial implants.

Good Luck
