After spending the last 8 days in the hospital we are starting our journey on Monday to find out if our almost 5 yr old has Systemic Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.  It was the working diagnosis when we left the hospital.   I would love if any one could sned me either links to their own stories or any sites for good information.  I have checked everything I could but keep getting the same generic description.  I am very enxious to find out what kind of journey this is going to be.  My daughter has not really started with the arthitis symptoms yet.  So far we have had almost everything else on the list.

Hi Beth,

My daughter was diagnosed with systemic jra when she was five. She is going to be ten in September. She is currently off all meds and hasn't had to go back on for over a year now. It was a long journey with ups and downs but remission is possible. I would be glad to talk to you - share her story and answer any questions you have as best I can. You can email me directly at riggsjulie@gmail.com. There is a website called stillsdisease.org. Stills Disease is another name for Systemic jra. You might find some help there. One helpful thing on that website, is it helps you know how to read lab results and there is a chat board, but it is mostly adults on there. However, the adults do deal with the same type of symptoms so it still might be helpful to you. Be careful when reading about adults though because they tend to not get through the disease as well as children and it can be more severe for people with adult onset. So you can't completely compare the two.... but still, I found it helpful.

Its really good that you caught this before your daughter developed arthritis symptoms. I think that is a good sign that you will be able to get it under control more quickly. I'll keep you and your little one in my thoughts and prayers and feel free to email me directly if you want.

Julie
