I may not be able to go on Enbrel at all.
I had the TB Skin Test a week ago Monday and had it read Wednesday. It was clear as a bell and we were full steam ahead. Then about Friday Morning the TB test area turned bright red and itchy. It stayed that way until yesterday when it started fading into a purple-y bruise.
I emailed my Rtlgst about starting the Enbrel and just mentioned offhand that I had a delayed reaction on the test.
Apparently that's not unheard of in patients with a junked up immune system (i.e. anyone with RA, Endo, 2dary Fibro and allergies) even though it is rare.
Hear that? I.am.special.
So special that I have to wait two weeks, have another TB test and then have that read after 72 hours to make sure that I'm good to start Enbrel.
All the whining I did about being scared to take the drug in the first place and now this.
Who said life was boring?

You might ask for the blood test, which is more expensive and takes longer but doesn't have false positives. That skin test could still be funky, so stay on top of it. Chest x-ray and blood test before they make you take meds for TB. A friend just went through this and they were ready to make her take the TB meds before any tests.
Hopefully, all is well and you will be on Enbrel soon.
Anna

Eeek! Get thee to a health department for some DOT therapy!
If you're a TB carrier but non-infectious, does that mean you can never go on a biologic?
Let us know how the next round goes!

I'm sorry for the extra glitch. I think there is a course of medications people who test positive can take and then go on a biologic. You might ask about this to ease your mind while you are waiting for the retest. God bless.
Age 82, diagnosed RA 12/2001, married since 1952, 4 sons no daughters, 4 grandsons 1 granddaughter. Doing well on Methotrexate and Remicade.

Just passing through and saw your post. A red rash doesn't mean you have a positive TB skin test. It MUST have an induration to be positive. In other words it must be raised, kind of like a mosquito bite with defined edges that can be measured. Make sure they used a Mantoux PPD and the person reading it has been trained to read TB skin tests. Hopefully you will find out it is only an allergic reaction.
Hope you have a great 4th of July!
Renee

Hopefully, it is just an allergy.
Got my fingers crossed for you.
