My 9 year old daughter had an injection in her knee and ended up with a OCD lession (compromised bone in her knee joint).  This limited her activity level (no running, jumping, pounding, P.E.) for 6 months and caused quite a bit of pain.  Any other stories like this?  We may be facing another injection in the same knee but I am leary.

Thank for your insight!

Kara,

This might be a good question to post on the young adult-teen section of this site. A lot of the mom's here have kids who are much younger. My daughter is 9 also, but hasn't had to have joint injections... she has systemic jra. I hope you find your answers. It has to be a hard decision to make. I know how much arthritis can effect the kids' lives at school. Sometimes even just holding the pencil can be hard and they are so embarrassed about being different in any way at that age.

My son had 2 rounds of knee injections without any complications. I would think OCD is a rare complication or a coincidence. I hope things are going better now.
