My mom raised a question to me - with all the meds that my daughter (age 5) with JRA is on - is it wise to have her wear a medical id bracelt?

Thanks!

This is a great question and something I've been pondering lately for my son.  I'm not sure he's old enough yet, but once he is I plan to order him a Road ID:  http://www.roadid.com/common/id.aspx

They have a version they call Interactive which allows you to create and maintain an online medical profile where you can list (and change as needed) medical conditions, medications, physician contacts, etc.  The first year of the website is free and then it's $9.99 per year.  I currently wear a Road ID when I run and I think this would be a great solution for a kid instead of the medical ID bracelets.  I will definitely be getting one for my son before he starts school (maybe even the shoe ID for preschool).

RoadID - what a great idea.  I have a road id for myself too.  I think they are coming out with one for kids soon.  I like the one you mentioned.  I will look into that.

Thanks for the idea.

Try www.mymagicfairy.com got one for my 12 month old from them. Love it.

Also got a sports band one for my older teenager. It is a velcro adjustable type.

Hope this helps

I am new here just found this board tonight but wanted to share. My daughter is 15 and has JIA and has had it since she was 5. She recently started on mtx and so I got her a medical ID bracelet for her to wear. She now rides with friends and is high school. This way if anything ever happened to her medical personal would know.
