Has anyone had their child on sulfasalazine? Has your child has a decreased appetite? My son is on it, MTX and pred right now. His appetite has decreased and he's actually lost a little bit of weight even with being on pred since Feb. I think it's the sulfasalazine and am trying a week off of it to check it out, but I was curious to see if anyone had similar issues.
Thanks, Mo

My daughter has been on it for awhile now. She has the hardest time about the time we hit the full dosage t but it only lasted a couple of weeks and she has been fine since then. She just said she wasn't hungry and her stomach felt "funny". I don't know if it's just an adjustment thing or not. Hope things calm down soon!

My DD has been on sulfasalazine for eight weeks now. At the beginning it decreased her appetite noticeably, but now it's pretty much back to normal.

Thanks for the input. DS has been off sulfasalazine for over a week now and seems to be doing great. We increased the MTX 2 weeks ago, so I'm sure that accounts for some of it. His appetite seems to be better, tho. We're supposed to taper off pred, but I'm waiting to hear from the dr before we start that. I'm hoping he says we can just stay off the sulfasalazine altogether and not go back on a lower dose. And I'm hoping we can get off the pred. Fingers crossed...
