I just wanted to share our good news update...something we all need more of.

Alex went to the rheumy on Monday...and the ENBREL IS WORKING!   I knew it was but it was great to get confirmation...and we have only done four injections (we only do one a week at this point.)  Other than his hips...all other impacted joints showed improvement...toes, knee, both shoulders and both elbows.  I knew it was working because he hadn't complained about his toes...and his toes were in constant pain.

It's amazing the change in him...he looks better, feels better, is doing better in school and is eating better.  Plus he has so much more energy...a little too much some days lol!  But I'm not complaining...poor guy has probably been in pain since May of 2007 and now he feels so good.  The rheumy joked and said 'we could always stop the Enbrel'...NO WAY!  He also mentioned that he very well may begin gaining more weight (he's very thin...only about 38 pounds) now that he feels better.  And judging by what he's been eating lately...I think he's right.

So as long as his bloodwork comes back OK...we don't go back until the end of November...  Three whole months.  Of course the rheumy had to go over the new black box warning...but we quickly agreed that he should continue on the Enbrel.  (He is also on naproxen, folic acid and mtx injections.)

Keeping everyone in our thoughts and prayers...and hoping for pain free days ahead for everyone.

All the best,

Karen and Alex, 6, poly (04/09) plus a bunch of other stuff

THAT'S GREAT! I am very happy for both of you. I am glad to here that your little one is doing so much better. I am hoping to get the same response at the next appointment instead of the two hour drive to get to the office every month. I wish you luck on the bloodwork and not having to go to the rhuemy till November.

Jen

Hi Karen,

I'm so glad to hear Alex is improving. I know it's been a tough road for him with all the obstacles he faces.Things are looking up.  I wish him continued improvement in the months to come. Best of Luck.

AWSOME! I am so happy for you! I don't get a chance to get on the computer much anymore bc I'm not working at my old job anymore, but It is great to see that today some of you are starting to see some stress-free days ahead and life can return to "normal" for a change! I really am so happy for you and pray for continued improvement and remission for him.

P.S. Nicole's joint pains have subsided, it wasn't her disease, just a reaction (from surgery I think) that went away in a couple weeks, Yeah!!!
