Hi all my name is Carla and im 28 years old and 7 weeks ago i was diagonsed with Seronegative Arthritis
It all stated from a heel spur and tendionitis. I have had to stop working as I find it hard to walk with out my walking stick and the pain killers im taking i am unable to drive. I have started treatment with Sulfasalazine, which appers to
not be working after my 4 week blood test showed my inflammtory markes higher again then what they were before.
My first blood test reveled that they were triple to what they should of been. I have another blood test on the 26 /10/09 which will be 8 weeks i have been on treatment for and judging on how im feeling and the swelling of my feet, ankles and knees and back im guessing the last 4 weeks of treatment is not working also. Im going insane not being able to work, and i am unable to get any government assistance either and the medications are quite expensive. Im hoping the next treatment will work .

Welcome to the board but I'm sorry you have reason to be here. Most of the action on this site is on the Rheumatoid Arthritis forum and you are welcome to post there even though you do not have that specific diagnosis. Most inflammatory arthritis treatments take a long time to become effective and the disease will continue to get worse until they have had enough time to really work. It is not unusual for things to continue to get worse for a while till they finally get better. On the other hand, arthritis is highly variable, and Sulfasalazine is a rather weak treatment so maybe you do need something stronger. I'm sorry I can't offer more encouragement. I do hope you get effective treatment. God bless.

Age 82, diagnosed RA 12/2001, married since 1952, 4 sons no daughters, 4 grandsons 1 granddaughter.  Doing well on Methotrexate and Remicade.

Welcome to the site. I took Sulfasalazine for a while and it didn't work for me either. I'm with Grandpavan and invite you to come over to RA Connect. Not many members even look at this part of the site and just go to RA Connect. Hope to see you there.

Hi Carla,

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but keep in mind there are plenty of worse things out there to get! My girlfriend has bad asthma, and I would prefer to have my SNRA! I was diagnosed at age 17, and since then have been a division 1 NCAA athlete. (I'm 25 now). It's ok - life does go on. I am currently on Enbrel, 50mg once a week, and it has been working wonders. I used to be on sulfasalzine, but after a few years it became too aggressive and had to start Enbrel. It's been great - ironically i get sick less often than i used to. Probably because my immune system isn't working overtime 24/7. Good luck with your treatment - don't ever get down about it! You're not alone :-)
