I've sent several site mail messages to AF Dude, asking him to read the thread and give us a plan for resolving the issues. Two or three times, he's said that he'll take a look . . . but I have not seen a post on the thread from him.

Perhaps it's time for everyone to send him site mail messages with a copy of the URL for this thread and a plea for a plan to fix the problems. Maybe there will be strength in numbers.

Take Care,
Pam

Pam3 (10/27/2009)
I'll start.

1) I use a PC and Internet Explorer.

2) In the past couple of weeks, I've noticed many changes for the worse. I once could change formatting by highlighting text and pointing and clicking on icons or using pull down menus. This worked much like formatting in MS Word. Now, I have to insert IFCode using the list of shortcuts. This is much more complicated, and applies to every formatting change. Other actions, like inserting links and pictures, have also become much more complicated than they once were. I also notice more error messages, including one that says I need to include content to my message, even if I've already done so. Even changing font color is more cumbersome, because we have to find the relevant codes, rather than pointing and clicking on a color display. Most recently, the size of the area for posting has shrunk to a tiny space . . . perhaps a metaphor for the quality of my recent posting experiences.

3) All of this makes posting much more time consuming and frustrating. We use this site as a place for easy communication with others who understand our situation. All of these issues distract from that purpose. I hope the issues are resolved soon.

1)Not a problem
2)Forums will strip all HTML formatting pasted into the WYSIWYG editor and will convert any HTML to 'If Code' logic.
Reason: Allowing these types of tags in the past left our communities vulnerable to possible attacks on the community/system. Please be aware that the changes that have been made are temporary until our Q1 2010 Blog engine release is complete.
3) I agree it is not user friendly or intuitive. Although I did i mention you can use basic colors for that field if you don't want to bother with hex values. There is also a hex chart posted in the Technical Support forums. I not trying to get to use I just want you to know it's there in case you want to use it. I have alerted the development team that this was an issue. In fact I will send you the text of my message to the development team on 10/19

CallMeSteph (10/27/2009)

1.)I am running the latest version of Firefox on a Mac with the 10.5.8 operating system.
2.) In the past week I have experienced several days where I have not been able to log onto the forum. Nothing would happen when I would click on the "log in" link. I am also experiencing the difficulty with the small white box when adding a reply to a post. Right now I am typing this in another program and will copy and past when I am finished. I have also noticed that the "Add Reply" button at the top of the page next to the "Add Topic" and "Add Poll" buttons is not following the same code as the other two buttons. It is in a flat square box where as the others are rounded on the edges and appear to be slightly dimensional.
3.) With the posting and login problems I have been unable to communicate with those who need advice. I am also unable to update those on the forum who have been interested in what is going on with my RA and possible med switch.

AF Dude, I hope my post helps you solve the coding issues.

Steph

1) Not a problem

2)

a)To properly login into the community you should go to either Arthritis.org and click the login link at the top or click on the myProfile link in the community which should redirect you back to the login screen - this will only happen if you have logged out.

b)The small box issue has been fixed.

c) I will get the Add reply button changed.

3) If you have any problems logging in you should send me an email. If it happens again make sure that you log out completely from the community site and then go back to myProfile or arthritis.org to login. I see that you have ultimately worked it out since you were able to leave a post here.

Thanks
Steph

I USE A PC AND INTERNET EXPLORER

I AM NEW HERE AND IN GREAT NEED OF SUPPORT RIGHT NOW BUT ALL THE PROBLEMS ARE MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO WANT TO COME BACK

I CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING, FONT,SIZE OR COLOR. INSERT A PICTURE, HYPERLINK, THE SIZE OF THE FONT IS VERY SMALL AND HARD FOR ME TO READ. YES PAM HAS SHOWN US DIFFERENT WAYS TO ACHIEVE THIS BUT IT IS SEVERAL STEPS AND FRUSTRATING TO REMEMBER AND GET THRU AND BY THE TIME I GET IT RIGHT ITS LIKE THERE IS NO ENERGY LEFT TO POST TO ANOTHER TOPIC

A) You currently have to use the default settings or use the 'if codes' to change font size or color. My first post to Pam3 explains why we can not use hyperlinks right now. I will post it in the Tech Support Forum. If you want to reformat any of your text make sure you highlight it first and then choose the size or font. For colors, if you don't want to use hex values use simple colors names like:

black
green
blue
navy
red
orange
brown
grey
purple
yellow

LOGIN ISSUES AND ALSO I HAVE TRIED EVERY WAY TO TURN OFF EMAIL NOTICICATIONS AND IT WONT TAKE

A) Email me your login issues. You basically need to completely log out of the community and log back in from the myProfile link or from arthritis.org if you are not getting in.

B) Click on the Forum Settings link at the top right. Click on the email settings link on the left side. Select the notifications you want to receive by checking or un-checking the boxes.

THE SMALL WHITE BOX IS VERY CONFUSING TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHT YOU ARE POSTING

A) This issue has been fixed.

I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS A SITE ISSUE OR MY PC BUT WHEN I DO GO THRU THE STEPS PAM SHOWED US FOR MAKING THE FONT BIGGER I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY TELL THE COMPUTER TO ALLOW SCRIPTED WINDOWS EVERYTIME

A) Must be something on your PC. You shouldn't get that message repeatedly

AF DUDE I WONT TO BE A PART OF THIS SITE AND I FEEL A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE COMPLAINING ABOUT A FREE SITE BUT DONT SHOW OR OFFER THE OPTIONS IF THEY DONT WORK PLEASE, THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE US ITS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

A) No Worries! This site is for you. You have every right to ask for help. If we can make the changes I will be sure to try and get it.

Pam,

It appears that this forum is run using software/service/server from The Port. My assumption is that they want it to look good and to run good. We all know how badly it ran over the weekend.

The WYSIWYG editor works, but is not fully displaying the window available to it. My guess is that a variable pointer has changed. This should require that it be reset to the former value that it had before it changed.

The Profile editor sometimes works, and sometime doesn't I was able to modify mine with a little effort, but I feel that it's not working correctly. The same is true for changing a jpeg.

I use a PC and explorer

Can only see two lines of text when I posting

When I go to reply to a post it takes me to my log-on and then all the back to the part of the website where all of the forums are listed, it used to take me right back to the thread I was wanting to post to.

cannot change font size

cannot add a pic

Thanks

Pollysue

The small post window has been corrected. Also I think you were having an issue with being logged in.

You can change the font size by first selecting all of the text and then choosing a font size. To add a picture you have to know the full path of the URL to the picture. This feature works best if you are adding a picture from a website. If you find a picture on the web you want to add, the fastest way to get the url is to right click on the image select properties and copy the url link provided.

Grandpavan (10/27/2009)
I use a PC and Internet Explorer

I know little about computers and have no desire to learn more than the minimum I need.

The first problem I encountered was trying to change font size. I used to be able to click on Size=3 and the text would immediately show as this size. Now it gives me opening and closing code with the cursor between the two sets of code. I enter my post at this location and it will not accept the post without "content". I can put a character either before the first code or after the last code and it will accept the post.

Over the weekend I could not log on but this has either been corrected or corrected itself.

I only get two lines of text displayed in the message box for this post.

For a while it showed one time for a post when looking at the forum but when I clicked on a thread it showed a time that was different by one hour. I think that now works OK.

I have noticed random changes in functioning of the board without any prior warning or subsequent explanation. My impression is that someone or something is constantly tweaking the board with unpredictable consequences. I have not kept a log of these events but it has happened at random intervals for many months.

These changes make me wonder why I stay here. God bless
.

A) Grandpavan you have to have code in between the brackets otherwise nothing happens.
A) Second and Third, Fourth issues have been fixed
A) Your last point is valid and important to note. I will pass it on - Thanks!

AF Dude, whether you agree with me or not, I do appreciate that things are getting fixed. If there's anything you can do for my RA flares, I would appreciate that too!

I'm off Prednisone! and off Bactrim, currently taking Atenenol, Albuterol, Glipizide, Lozol, NOMORE NSAIDS and trying to lose the 30+lbs that I gained recently from Prednisone. Just added Arava. Diagnosed with RA in 1982. Fighting ILD. I'm dealing with my Diabetes and I've only begun to truely understand RA.

I used to use AOL's browser, and could never send a private message or insert a picture. I always got the same message as Bodak to "refresh my browser and try again."

Now I am using Google Chrome and sometimes Internet Explorer and haven't had any trouble with private messages. Inserting photos inline in the text is difficult, changing font colors is very difficult, but both are possible. Before we had a nice editor that allowed wysiwyg inserts , font changes, and pasting from other websites. No URL required.

Running FireFox, and having to stop and refresh multiple times just to get a page to load. Very frustrating when trying to post a message. Sometimes it works the first time and others it takes several times to get it to work.
