Hello,

I know a lot of you have gone through this nightmare of getting approved by SSDI; well, I'm trying myself to get approved and just now received in the mail a request by the SSA to go to one of there Doctors for a complete physical, exrays, and heart tests. I'm wondering if this is normal or not?

Any help would be appreciated

Hi, yes they can request that be done, there is tons of info on the social security website, you can even apply for disability online, I did, I got approved right then and there when I was at my meeting in front of the judge-mine was done by video conference, they were very nice and the physician/or medical person agreed with all of my doctors reports.

Hi Ron.

This is a fairly common practice. I had to see one of their doctors. The timing couldn't have been better; I was in a flare on the day of my appointment. I almost cancelled, but I wanted the doctor to see my club, er, uh, my hand. I was approved on the first try.

Good luck.

I had to go see one of the SSD Drs. The Dr. was very nice. I had a lot of tests so he didn't order any. I had x-rays, bloodwork results, etc.

After his report was received I was approved.

BEST OF LUCK! I HOPE YOU'RE IN A FLARE WHEN YOU GO SEE THEIR DOCTOR...I WASN'T AND ACTUALLY FELT VERY WELL THAT DAY AND OF COURSE I WAS TURNED DOWN. THE DOCTOR WATCHES EVERYTHING FROM IF YOU DRIVED THE CAR, HOW YOU WALKED, HOW YOU LOOKED, HOW YOU ACTED, IF YOU WERE PALE, HOW YOU LAY ON THE TABLE, HOW YOU RESPOND TO THEIR QUESTIONS, ON AND ON AND ON. THIS APPT. IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT. I EVEN WENT SEE A SHRINK. HE TRIED TO HELP, BUT IT JUST DIDN'T HAPPEN. I, ON THE OTHER HAND, HAD WENT BACK TO WORK AND MADE TOO MUCH MONEY DURING THE TIME I WAS EMPLOYED AGAIN. YOU CAN ONLY MAKE $900/MO FOR IT TO COUNT AS SUBSTANIAL INCOME. GOOD LUCK AND TAKE CARE!

God Bless all my RA Friends!

I didn't see a doctor but I think that is more the exception than the rule... I was very lucky, but I think it was entirely because of my excellent attorney. The whole process, from application to approval only took 2-3 months, and I had my first check in four, I think? I strongly recommend getting an attorney, they legally can't charge more than 25% of your back pay, and only if you win.

Thank you all for this information I forgot to mention I also have Atrial Fibrilation and this along with my RA is what cost me my flying position.

It's all in the Lords Hands and I will keep you posted as to the outcome

Hey Ron,
As lefty said it was an o.k. day for me when I went in and got denied.I remember that day well because I remember the Dr. only asked me two questions. Are you in pain now?and When was the accident? And the sob made a decision on that!!After that I did get a lawyer but it was still two years later that I was approved.Part of that problem was there was only one judge here where I lived so I had to wait for the judge.Best day Of my life!Like I said in my topic post, I could have been living in a cardboard box at my local park before all was said and done, Good Luck to you my friend!Hope all goes better for you and don't give up.
