Hi all. Another teaching week starts today, as yesterday was a day off for the students while teachers went to the annual greater Nashville area Christian School In-Service. The drive was a little over an hour each way and just about did my back/hips in, as did the constant sitting for each session. Between that, the fact that I'm off all of my RA meds (except steroids), and I'm working 60 hour weeks just to keep up, I'm beyond exhausted and in a whole lot of pain. The last several days have been nearly a constant pain level of 7 or 8. We have two open houses this week, so there is even more work to be done and days to be worked. I probably won't have a day off until two Sundays from now.

I'd sure appreciate your prayers for relief from the fatigue and pain. Both are making it quite hard to get everything accomplished. Thank you so much!

God bless,

Robin

Dear Robin,

Of course you will be in my prayers! Sorry you had to suffer so on your trip to the conference. Did you take your seat cushion with you? When my lower back was giving me fits, I never went anywhere without my cushion (including church, ).

How long have you been off Dmards? Why? Isn't there something you can take?

Please try to pace yourself this week. You work so hard and give so much of yourself to your students. I really admire your dedication!

Hugs, Spoons & Prayers,

Gramma Ellie

I am sending prayers, gentle hugs, and all the spoons I can spare your way. I hope you are able to make it through and find a few minutes to relax until you are able to have a day off.

Take care,
Steph

Gramma Ellie,

I'm allergic to Sulfasalazine, Plaquinil did my stomach in, MTX attacked my lungs, and Arava gave me a whopping case of peripheral neuropathy; thus, I'm not taking any DMARDS. After two very serious infections, none of my doctors wants me on a biologic (at least until the IL-6 inhibitors come to market). Unfortunately, I'm becoming one of those that steroids eventually become less effective for the longer they are used. I've been on them constantly for nearly 4 years now.

Thanks for your prayers, everyone! "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

Robin

Dear Robin,

I've been having some Internet issues today, so I'm just now able to respond to your thread. As always, I'm praying for you and your situation. I wish I could be there to help lighten your load.

Robin - My thoughts and prayers are with you! Sounds like you are having a horrible time and with no meds to help you through. As I said the other day, many people don't realize how hard teachers work. They should follow you around for one day and they would better understand why you want higher pay and better benefits! I do hope you find some relief. Can you get a teacher's aid or some of the parents to help you with the open house preparations or other things on your plate? Don't know how bad the peripheral neuropathy was when you were on Arava, but when I had it from something, the doc put me on neurontin (sp?) and it helped. Maybe that would allow you to go back on Arava. Just a thought. Take care of your self, Robin. We are all here for support.

Mary H.

Dear Robin,

I'm sending strength to you today! Hope you can feel it.

It's just awful that the drugs that were supposed to make you better have made you sicker instead. I hope that Actemra will start being available soon.
