Good evening!
I just wanted to post again and say hello....its been a while. I hope all is going well and everyone has been able to cope with their aches and pains.
For me its been a roller coaster. Back at the end of Summer, I felt terrific....probably better than I have for years. But it was a short lived month. Now I'm back to where I was earlier in the summer or worse. My Rhuemy Dr. Told me that they can see some degenration in my spine and that accounts for most of my problems I am experiencing now. I've had an EMG and a MRI done on my back and my left leg...as it continues to lose feeling and often caused me to trip and stumble. When it happens, its usually in a public place and I'm either laughing or embarrassed or both. I've been using my cane more regularly and avoid any prolonged standing or walking. That in itself doesn't help with the diet I've been on all year. (which I gained most everything back due to my use of prednisone as the Dr. explains)
The good news is, I weaning off the prednisone and I continue to wake up every morning with my beautiful wife and the 3 blessings I call my children.
God Bless!

Preston - Welcome or welcome back. I don't think I was on the board back when you started. I was diagnosed in June of '08 and wish I had known about this forum them! It is a wonderful place for help and information. I just loved your comment about waking up every morning with your beautiful wife and three blessings! Sorry you are having so much trouble with your back and hope you find some relief from that.

Hi Preston,
Nice to have you back! I'm so sorry the "feel good time" was so short for you. I assume your MRIs were inconclusive for nerve damage?
I do hope they get to the bottom of your weakness.
I'm having a similar problem with my left side being weak and my leg giving way. I've had every test except the MRI and everything was normal. Right now I'm going to PT three days a week and hoping to develop some strength around the areas that are damaged. I haven't been able to stand on tiptoes or walk normally for about 2 months, so I ride the exercise bike and walk on the treadmill (painful!!) and do leg lifts, etc. I'm walking without a cane now, which is good, but I still can't stand on my tiptoes!
Hope you will feel better soon.
Hugs and Prayers,
Gramma Ellie

Preston - Nice to see your smiling face again! I'm so sorry your remission was not longer - but it least can give you hope for better days to come. My heart is with you on the back issues. I'm right with you. I've been getting spinal injections for two years and went today to a neurosurgeon for a surgical consult. I don't think there's anything too much worse than back/sciatic pain. Please stay with it. There's so much they can do to treat it these days. My prayers will be with you. Please keep posting! We miss you when you're not around. Pam
