I've been on Arava for a week and have lost 5lbs! I feel so much better, including lighter on my toes since I went onto Arava and got the Depo-Medrol shot. The only negative side effect(s) have been loss of appetite and stomach cramps. Both of which I had been warned about by my Rheumy.

The weight loss is a good thing so I can't and won't gripe about that one. I only hope that the stomach cramps will fade away with time. But I'll gladly accept them both if I stay on this path.

Thanks for listening.

God Bless,

captex

I'm off Prednisone! and off Bactrim, currently taking Atenenol, Albuterol, Glipizide, Lozol, NOMORE NSAIDS and trying to lose the 30+lbs that I gained recently from Prednisone. Just added Arava. Diagnosed with RA in 1982. Fighting ILD. I'm dealing with my Diabetes and I've only begun to truely understand RA.

I was on the Arava for a short period but didn't have stomach issues but as soon as my hair started falling out my doctor took me off of it. I wouldn't have mind the weight loss though. Hope it helps you. Take Care, Sandy

My arava dose was increased and I found that I don't get hungry very often anymore. Not sure if it is just the arava or a combo as pain management has been more of an issue as well. Before, I wasn't able to take a daily dose as it made my head spin like I was on a little boat in choppy waters. I guess because we slowly increased it, that didn't happen this time for me. Let's hope that your stomach cramps will improve with time as you are taking the arava! On the days that I really don't want to eat, I make myself eat just a little 4 times during the day (fruit, veg & protein are my focus). Doesn't have to be what most would think of as a meal. Have found that to be my majic number so it doesn't increase so I really can't eat or smell food without wanting to gag and I'm back on track faster than if I give into it.Hope your on your way to feeling better!

Cindy,

Thanks for your feedback. Today I took some Tylenol for what I thought was a headache. I'm curious if it's not my head on a boat in choppy waters.

I hope that it clears up on it's own tomorrow. I've been on Arava for 9 days. Too early to say much more than what I've said about losing weight and my stomach.

I going to stay the course for now.
