Dear Friends - We got a call from Dad's nursing home on Tuesday that his blood pressure was low, he was complaining of being cold, and hallucinating again. They transported him by ambulance back to the hospital. Apparently even though they put the stent in his kidney a couple of weeks ago, there's another UTI and his blood pressure is having a hard time staying up. At admission it was around 80/50. They're giving him IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Last night before I left the hospital, it was up to @ 100/60 and they're working hard to keep it up that high. His mind is clearer again, but he's very tired and weak. He is eating some on his own but won't drink much - which he really needs to do.

Sorry to ask so often - but please pray for him. This is so hard on him and he's worn out. Last week the neurologist really upped his Parkinson meds as that disease continues to worsen. It's just so hard to watch your parent slip away. Thank you all so much for your support and prayers. Pam

God Bless you Pam, I know with the issues that you face with your sister, you are alone in this process. I will be praying for you and sending you a few hugs and spoons to help you.

Always,

Pam,

I am so sorry to hear this. Of course, I will pray for your father. Also, I will pray for your strength so you can continue to be there for him. I pray that you get enough rest so you don't flare while trying to see to his needs. You've got a lot on you plate. I pray that it's not overwhelming for you.

Hang in there. Better days are ahead.

Dear Pam,

You are certainly in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry your father is back in the hospital. Do they have to replace the stent again?

I'll be worrying about you, so please post and let us know how he is.

Hugs,
Gramma Ellie

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Please keep them coming. We found out today that the stent in his kidney is in place and doing its job. Cultures today revealed he has a different type of bacterial infection, unrelated to the problem that makes it necessary for him to have the stent in his kidney. When I got to the hospital this morning, he had sled backwards mentally. Last night his mind was pretty clear but this morning he didn't know what day it was and was confused about everything. By late this afternoon he was not hallucinating but really out of it. He did not know where he was, how he got there, and was very frustrated and upset. He kept trying to get out of bed, which would not be good. I'm sure they set the alarm system on the bed to alert the nurse if he tried to get up since he is not ambulatory. The doctor told me now that the cultures are back and they realize it is a different type of infection than before, he changed his IV antibiotics. We're praying for better results tomorrow after he has had a couple of IV doses of the new antibiotic. I'm trying to learn to pace myself. I was at the hospital for a few hours this morning, went into work this afternoon for a few more hours, and then my dear husband told me to go home and he would take a shift at the hospital with Dad. That really helped me quite a bit. Hoping for better news tomorrow. I'm so tired - I'm going down for the night. Sleep well, my friends. Pam
