You know you have RA when:

Any conversation can suddenly turn into a round of "Charades".

A "good hair day" is when you realize you have some left.

You tell your kid to "clean up the floor" and they just get the broom out and start sweeping.

You make a grocery list so you won't forget anything, and then forget where you put the list. (On a REALLY bad day you also forget where the grocery store is!)

You bathe the lawn, fertilize the dog, and brush the kids.

You use the smoke detector to tell you when dinner is done.

You try to type and discover that you've invented a whole new language.

You keep sunscreen by every door.

Getting some fresh air means sitting near an open shady window.

You have a temperature and moisture-controlled room for keeping your large quantity of meds.

You're the only one who believes you're THAT sick.

You sit in the car for three hours wondering what you needed to do, not even sure where you are.

Someone asks you what RA stands for and you've forgotten.

It takes so long to get one project done, because in the meantime you've been distracted by at least a million other things.

You put the ice cream in the cupboard (and then wonder why somebody else did something THAT stupid).

You know every doctor, nurse, within 50 miles of your home - AND you've financed most of their vacations.

The pharmacist sees you coming down the aisle and doesn't even have to ask your name.

You decide to buy stock in pharmaceutical companies (because you buy their products so much they ought to make lots of money) but you can't afford to invest (for the same reason).

Always,

Lulu

Thanks, Lulu! These really hit home. I can especially relate to the one about the grocery list. Thank you for brightening my day!

Lulu,

These are great. Goodness knows I needed this today. Really funny stuff. The grocery list is right on target, And I can't tell you how many times I've gotten the car keys, got in the car, and just sat in the driveway because I couldn't remember where I was going. Just sad.

Thanks for making me laugh aloud, Lulu!!!

I locked my dog in my car last week after picking him up from doggy daycare and spent 20 minutes frantically searching the house for him. Luckily, he loves the car and seems to understand that I'm just not "right" all of the time.

I love the fact my pharmacy knows me by name. It would be better if they moved me to the speed checkout. I still take less than 20 different pills. LOL

I thought I was the only one where the pharmacy techs and pharmacisits know you!! Even by voice in the drive thru. I figured it was the odditidy of my meds, the crazy amount of them and my (younger) age. They all seem confused when filling the MTX injection and all the pharmacists there are SO against prednisone for longer than a week. I guess there is no one else in my large So. Cal. city with RA.... ha ha

PS- r.a. sucks-
I'm your age and on many of the same meds as you. I also love your profile name, as I sometimes have trouble being optimistic with this crap!!!

Oh, Lulu - so true !!! It's so funny - when I was in my early 20's, I was already started to experience some of these things! I really thought I was losing my mind and now I know I was just experiencing the affects of autoimmune soup ! Oh, well! At least we can commiserate with each other and laugh about it !

Bekah - I love your cane comment! I hope you are having a wonderful time at the reunion! Praying for your travels and that nothing aggrevates the Lupus/RA while you're gone!!

Liz
