Hello To The Young Ones With JRA
Posted by: Shandie Not Specified at 1:40PM EST on October 6, 2009

I just wanted to offer a few words of encouragement for all of the children out there with arthritis. My name is Shandie and I am 25 years old. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 8. Although alot of children grow up without to many complications; I myself have only progressed. I have had many of my joints completely fuse and have had both of my hips completely replaced.  However, my outlook on life has always remained the same; I am not a part of this disease, it is only a part of me!  I am very happy and thankful for the life that I have been given, and would not give it up for anything.  I have learned so many things, and strive to make a positive difference in this world. I am now married and have my own job!

If there is anyone out there that would like more information about my condition or would just like someone to talk to then please feel free to e-mail: shandie.spencer@yahoo.com

does anyone out there have degenerative disc disease.
Posted by: sylvia nash at 2:18PM EST on April 8, 2009
I use a heating pad frequently for my pain, especiallly at night. I have lower back pain and a good deal of pain in my left leg..mostly the knee.  I also have osteoarthritis...I have had an MRI and all of my disc seem to be bad...I am wondering if I could get surgery for some of them..My doctor doesn't seem to think so..at least not yet but I am an older person and am sure it won't get easier for surgery..

Products Designed to make Your Life Easier
Posted by: Celia Gates at 12:41PM EST on October 21, 2008

Hi

I would like to hear from you if you are living with Arthritis.  I would particularly like to know how you cope in the kitchen.  Do you do your own cooking or do you have to rely on somebody else to prepare your meals?

I am the European Female Designer of the Year 2007.  I won this prize because of the work I have been doing in relation to products designed for independent living.  Although I don't suffer from Arthritis myself, I see strongly believe many daily problems can be overcome with simple and thoughtful product design.

Do you struggle to lift a hot and heavy saucepan?

What other tasks do you find particularly difficult to cope with?  The better I can understand the problems you face, the easier it is to develop solutions.

Your help and support is invaluable to my ongoing research and I really appreciate all of your comments.

Thank you and kind regards Celia Gates
