brain fog
Posted by: vicki reddick at 12:20PM EST on November 30, 2008

I have had RA for about 7 years and now take humira and methotrexate but was on enbrel and methotrexate before.  My question is that I am noticing more every day that my memory is not very good and I have more problems getting tasks done.  I have read about chemo fog but they are talking about chemo used for breast  CA for instance.  However, my drugs have been very long term and I am wondering if they can cause this sort of "brain fog".  If so, I wonder what could help.  I forget my makeup or even my partial LOL.  I have to mulitask at work and have problems with that now.  If any suggestions on if that could be going on with me and what may help.  I was curious about ADD type drugs like adderol.  I would appreciate any input.

RA, Lupus, Osteoarthritis and Eye symptoms?
Posted by: Daniel Berte at 6:24PM EST on November 26, 2008
I just had my first visit with a Rheumatologist and I mentioned that I see a triangular bright white moving object in my vision on the edge of my left periphery.  I have an Uncle and Maternal Grandfather with RA and pain in all joints except my neck. I have not been diagnosed with anything yet but have x-rays of all joints this week and blood tests in progress.  I also had a seizure last year and saw a Neurologist who ordered a EEG and reviewed a 6 year old CT scan, I mentioned the eye symptoms to him as well. No doctor has seemed concerned with the eye symptom including my GP. I'm making an appointment to see an optometrist because I now see flickering in the same place. My question is, can this be caused by a Rheumatic disease or is it unrelated? Could it be Neurological?
My first Rituxin Infusion
Posted by: B Ritzler at 11:04AM EST on November 26, 2008
Well I had off work yesterday and received my first Rituxin
infusion... Ugh! I was there for six hours... My 12year old
daughter gave me her favorite book to read, so I was able to get 1/2
way through it with an occasionally (oh boy, I'd better close my eyes)
as the words started jumping around the page... All in all it was
pretty acceptable I was occasionally dizzy and extremely exhausted but
I did not have any additional pain or severe reactions (so that was
good). Plus reading my daughters book will give us more to talk
about for a couple of weeks, especially since the movie just came out,
and she's suppose to go see it with a friend this weekend.... I'll
wait for the video, as I hate crowds... (For those interested, the
book is called, "Twilight"... So far its pretty interesting).

I was suppose to go to work today, but quickly realized at 5:30 this
morning that I wasn't about to move. I felt like a herd of elephants
used my body as a football field. So I turned off my alarm and
pulled the covers over my head. I finally woke back up at 8:30 and
remembered I forgot/neglected to call out of work... So I handled that
and then gimped my way to get a warm shower... Wow! how good that
felt! I am still very tired, and a little sore, but nothing that
isn't manageable.

I plan to take it easy all day and tomorrow, and hopefully give the
new medicine a chance to help before I try to move to much....
Fortunately, I do not need to cook for Thanksgiving as we will be
going to my mother-in-laws.... I normally bake the pies, but this year
I will be getting them from a local bakery... Hopefully they will be as good as mine... (I'm pretty picky...LOL) I have never been able to cook very well, but I've always enjoyed baking! I'm still working on baking as well as my 82 year old aunt, but I'm getting closer...

Thanks for listening to me once again...

Natural Remedies
Posted by: Janet Broussard at 9:12AM EST on November 26, 2008

Hi,

I'm new here.  My mom was diagnosed with RA a few months ago.  She has very few "good days".  She isn't educated and believes in just what the doctor says.  I'm trying to learn more about RA and trying to help her get some relief from the pain. It's so hard to see her suffering so much.  I've read that Omega 3's help tremendously.  Is this true?  If she begins taking it will it interfere with her precription meds?  Also, would she benefit from doing yoga?

Thanks for any advice you can offer...

Icy bones
Posted by: Lorraine at 4:53PM EST on November 21, 2008

Hello,

Has anyone found relief from the feeling of ice cubes surrounding the bones; as if the cold has frozen the bone?  I know it sounds strange but I am constantly cold, hypothyroidism, and if I spend anytime outside or catch a chill inside the house I feel like certain bones(OA ones)are filled with ice.... Some relief is staying in a tub soaking in hot water... and I cant walk around hooked to a hot pad... any help would be nice..

X-Ray Spine
Posted by: Lynn Walker at 11:32PM EST on November 20, 2008

I have had RA and OA for 10 years now.  I have had pain on the back of my legs for at least 8 years.  Lately my back has been hurting.  Today, the doc took and x-ray and my lower back shows that the bone is on bone and their is a lot of arthristis present.  I ask the doc what it means.  He just asked me was I a lucky person.  Could someone explain exactly what this will mean to me in the future.

Thank you,  By the way I am 52 years old.

question on physical therapy
Posted by: Debbie Waites at 11:28AM EST on November 19, 2008

hi, i am new here and hoping someone out there can offer me some sane advice.

i have had problems with my knees since a teenager, i am now in my late 40's.  i have had both knees scoped and cleaned up, and now am looking at trying the injection synvisc, (waiting on insurance approval). i have been told i am looking at total replacement in the next year or two.

my question though evolves around physical therapy.  my surgeon would like me to do PT 3 times a week, two days on land, one day in the water.  i have gone for two days on land as they say, and the pain has increased to the point the meds i take for pain control arent touching it.  i can barely walk.  the swelling is horrible, stiffness, etc. i am sure you all know what i am talking about.  i feel like before my pain was at least managable, now i am missing work, missing more activities with my family. Is this normal?  do i have the wrong physical therapist?  i wake up in pain, i go to sleep in pain, i cry at times walking from room to room.  i am feeling worse than better, and i know things can take time, but i am scared to death i making things worse.

any advice, any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated, i do not see a specialist in arthritis, should i begin there?  i am at a a loss and the pain has reached the point i cant take this any longer.

thanks for any insight and feedback

Debbie

Posted by: Sandra Davis at 6:18PM EST on November 18, 2008

Hello my name is sandra. I have general arthritis or so i was told. i have had scopes to clear my knees of arthritis a few years ago and 2 surgeries to relocate my knee caps. Lately since it recently got cold my legs are hurting really achy pain. problem is its not my knee it starts right below the knee and goes down to my ankle area. stretching helps while im doing it and the pain comes back when im done massage also helps. HEat heat heat helps although like every other thing i try once im done with it the pain is still there. regular otc meds do not work. My question is is the normal in arthritis or is this something completely different and has anyone got a clue what is causing this and how to get relief. it is hard for me to tell if its the muschle or the bone cause it feels sooo deep. but its similar pain to  what i experienced around my knee when i was told i had arthritis so im lost

thank you in advance for any help i can get

I would like advice please
Posted by: Kimberly4 at 2:01PM EST on November 18, 2008
Hi friends,

I am looking for some advice.  I was diagnosed with degenerative joint disease 4 years ago.  I have had both knees replaced plus I have had my shoulder cleaned up.  Up until now the pain and inflammation have been manageable.  I am taking celebrex during the day and then at night I take ambien and vicodin if the pain is too bad.  I have also used ice and slept sitting up on some nights to help the pain.  I also have arthritis in my finger and in my feet.  Does anyone have anything that they may have tried that could help me so I could at least get a good night sleep and get through the day?  Thank you.

Question on ANA/Titer/Pattern
Posted by: M Wright at 10:53AM EST on November 18, 2008

ANA positive

Titer 1.640

Pattern Specked

Can these scores be caused from something other than Lupus or Mixed Connective Tissue Disease?" Digenertaive bone was one doctors diagnosis when I was 50, eight years ago.

What would cause the above scores?

Several broken bones from being active during young years, riding horses, etc., so the above were my recent blood test scores. When I have a stressful day, I get a really bad headache from neck (broken in car accident and wore halo 10 years ago) and I get a place that comes up on my nose. It's not there unless anxiety situation.  I have seen the butterfly rash but not for about 2 years.

Looking for information
Posted by: D at 9:04AM EST on November 10, 2008
I have just been diagnosed with osteopenia. Information on this pre-osteoperosis condition seems to be limited. I am looking for help concerning exercise and diet. My doctor has prescribed a medication but it is very expensive. Therefore I am waiting on insurance approval. Can someone please help with advice or resource recommendations?
