Does enzyme therapy arthritis?
Posted by: seth Davis on January 26, 2009 at 2:01PM EST
Hello everyone,

I understand arthritis can be extremely painful and difficult, my gandmother suffered from it.

My question was whether any of you had heard of enzyme therapy for helping  with arthritis.  I have heard about natural nutraceutical enzyme  products which have actually healed arthritis patients beacuse of the enzyme therapy.  My friend recommended me a book- The Healing Power of Enzymes by Dr. DicQie Fuller which talks about arthritis- what causes it and how it can be healed. Its a pretty interesting read on how enzyme misbalance causes a lot of preventable diseases like arthritis.

Have any of you had previous expereince with such treatment?

Seth, I do not know of any "cures"! but I am aware of some natural remedies that help with the discomfort. Cherry fruit extract has been helpful for a lot of people with gout, and arthritis, as it balances the pH in the joints and reduces the inflammation. I have tried it myself with good results, but due to all the Motrin in the past, my stomach is very sensitive to certain things and I temporarily had to stop taking it. Also, Bromelain is a digestive enzyme from pineapples that has helped some people especially with the muscle pain associated with the damaged joints. Not sure if this is what you were asking about, or if you were asking about injected enzymes into the joints themselves. Years ago they used to do that for herniated discs but found that some of the enzymes leaked out and destroyed surrounding tissue as well, so stopped using it.

hello kathy, thanks for the response.

actually the supplement my friend gave his mother includes bromelain, protease, papain and SOD( bovine liver superoxide dismulase) in the enzyme blend but no motrin or any chemical based blend.

the ingredients include broccoli, carrot, spinach, grape, green tea extract, kelp algae, tumeric, asian ginseng among other natural stuff. The ingredients help balance the pH level in the joints and other such areas, as you stated, but because there are no chemicals here the healing is more natural, and permanent, with no side effects.

since this is a supplement there is no injections required obviously, just take with a glass of water.
my friend's mom, at least, has not reported any more pain and seems pretty cheerful!

I have tried Neprinol and the effect was strong enough that I bought a second bottle, so was on it for 2 months. Yes, it seemed to help me, particularly at night when pain made it hard to sleep, and now that I am off of it (it is expensive by vitamin standards) pain is coming back. I will buy another bottle. If I am lucky I can ditch the Celebrex I have been on for about a dozen years. Another way to deal with pain is to remove all sugar and simple carbs from your diet and see what happens!
