Help! I have psoriatic arthritis and I'm flaring!
Posted by: TammyRN on May 17, 2009 at 10:51AM EST
I really need some help. I'm going to lose my mind. I'm 45 and feel 75. My feet are so swollen, red, and sore I can barely walk. At this very moment, I'm sitting in the recliner with baggies of ice tied around my feet. I'm a nurse and will do my last 12 hour shift Monday night. I start a new job Thursday where I won't have to be on my feet so much. I was on Enbrel and it kept my symptoms under control, but I went off it because I'm so afraid of all the risks. I don't know if my new insurance will cover it and I need a rheumatologist. There is only one arthritis doctor anywhere near where I live, and  he is so booked up I'll never get in to see him. I'm taking my limit of Motrin, and notice that my feet and legs are swelling at the end of the day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have a lot of luck by using tumeric to help with my pain and inflammation. Also changing my diet is very important I have eliminated sugar and wheat (anything with gluten too) and eat mostly organic meats and veggies. I have loads of information on the Arthritistrust.org website that has helped me. They have lists of doctors who can help, plus lots of free information to download. Best of luck to you.

I am 18 and just got diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. I have been on Humira for about a month and it has worked great! I know there is something called the humira protection plan that reduces the cost. you can get it for as little as $5 a month. The link is

in 3 months i could barely walk, i could not bend my fingers at all and so on. they said it would take at least 2 weeks to see any effect with the medicine but i felt better the next morning. for the first time i woke up pain free. it is a little slower to clear up the psoriasis but after 3 weeks i see a huge improvement.

Have you thought of Aloe Vera, doesn't interfere with drugs, is really good nutritionally, excellent anti-inflammatory and totally natural, for more info please email me
