I would like advice please
Posted by: Kimberly4 on November 18, 2008 at 2:01PM EST
Hi friends,

I am looking for some advice.  I was diagnosed with degenerative joint disease 4 years ago.  I have had both knees replaced plus I have had my shoulder cleaned up.  Up until now the pain and inflammation have been manageable.  I am taking celebrex during the day and then at night I take ambien and vicodin if the pain is too bad.  I have also used ice and slept sitting up on some nights to help the pain.  I also have arthritis in my finger and in my feet.  Does anyone have anything that they may have tried that could help me so I could at least get a good night sleep and get through the day?  Thank you.

Kim

Hi Kim,

it sounds like you are doing what you should with the anti-inflammatory and ice. Are you on the maximum dose of Celebrex? Perhaps it is not the best anti-inflammatory for you. Has your dr had you in physical therapy? I have inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis. My shoulders are a problem for me and I too have had surgery on one of them - at their worst, Vicodin was not sufficient! I am seeing a rheumatologist now that firmly believes the DMARDs can be helpful slowing the progression of the disease. I am on a DMARD and it does seem to be helping my pain level.

I hope you get some relief.
