RA, Lupus, Osteoarthritis and Eye symptoms?
Posted by: Daniel Berte on November 26, 2008 at 6:24PM EST
I just had my first visit with a Rheumatologist and I mentioned that I see a triangular bright white moving object in my vision on the edge of my left periphery.  I have an Uncle and Maternal Grandfather with RA and pain in all joints except my neck. I have not been diagnosed with anything yet but have x-rays of all joints this week and blood tests in progress.  I also had a seizure last year and saw a Neurologist who ordered a EEG and reviewed a 6 year old CT scan, I mentioned the eye symptoms to him as well. No doctor has seemed concerned with the eye symptom including my GP. I'm making an appointment to see an optometrist because I now see flickering in the same place. My question is, can this be caused by a Rheumatic disease or is it unrelated? Could it be Neurological?

I had flashing white lights, about a year after cataract surgery..it was a torn retina, and the eye surgeon fixed it with laser, in about 10 minutes in his office

he is top notch, also a professor..it wan't Ra in my eyes, but i'm not a doctor, but please see your eye doctor ASAP

I hope its something simple like that. I have an appt friday. I also have a very sharp pain that feels like someone is sticking a pin in the back of the right side of my head. Maybe its time for a new head CT. Thanks for the advice!

yes, your right it could be anything...but eye probs can get very serious...

still good to have eye doc see u soon, i was told when they look in your eyes, they can even tell if you have other medical issues

the optometrist may even refer u to opthamologist
hope you get to the bottom of all this soon/take care
