I just signed up with this site, But I have had JRA since I was 14 years old and I have been struggling with it ever since. I am almost 40 years old now. My syptoms are low grade fever at night, swelling and inflamation of multiple joints, fevered joints, and varying levels of pain and stiffness. I have also suffered from enlarged lymnoids and high white blood cell count. a problem I have with general practice MD's and my own primary care physicians is that they are not convinced that some one under the age of fifty can be suffering from arthritis and the keep looking for other causes of my ailments. I have been tested for lupus, blood cancer, gluten allergies and even underwent a bone marrow biopsy... all came back negative except for the rheumatiod factor in my bloodwork. two years ago I was diagnosed with a seperate illness that has put a real crimp on my mobility. I have severe pulminary hypertension. I am told that I must not stress my heart or lungs... meanwhile the pre-existing arthritis is allowed to do me in. Last month I went to the grocery store and then cooked a large supper for my family. the next day the inflamation in my hip was so bad that I couldn't stand or walk. my doctor doesn't know much about JRA and the pulminary problem makes her nervous. Her solution is to put me in an electric wheelchair. thanks for listening. Trisha

Hello Everyone, I am here seeking guidance and support from people afflicted with RA or other forms of Arthritis that can understand the physical and emotional hurdles those afflicted with the disease encounter. I also hope to make new friends and form everlasting bonds with great, new people. I look forward to meeting you all! Wednesday November 12, 2008

Hello Everyone, I have just been diagnosed with the early stages of RA. I am 26 and my specialist has prescribed Minocyline (Akamin), which is actually an anti-biotic for bacterial infections. It is normally used to treat acne (which I don't have). The pharmacist even phoned my specialist to confirm the medication as she had never heard it was for RA. The doc confirmed it was correct. I have been taking the medication for about a week, but i am so hesitant. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Does this sound right? Thankyou, Rebecca Friday November 7, 2008

Hello everyone, My name is Bethany and I was recently diagnosed with RA after being misdiagnosed in 2002 with Lupus. I am a mother of 2 young boys and I find myself struggling with the smallest of tasks, mainly getting out of bed and picking up my children. My doctor is in the process of running tests and all of that fun stuff but is there anything I can do until he gets answers back and we have a game plan in place. This pain is rendering me useless and nothing I am doing is helping. Please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Beth Saturday November 1, 2008

Saturday, November 01, 2008 I have Ra and psoriasas and Psa and I have tried every drug there is . Right now I am on Methotrextrate and Rutuxian that you take twice a year. You need good insurance for it but so far it seems to be doing ok. Humaria worked for a while and Imbreal did no good at all. Pain pills don't work only make you a zombi. What I would really like to know is how to keep from getting sick all the time. If it is not a cold it is fatuge and something else. I am so sick of doctors and it just seems like such a horrible way to live your life. Any advice |
